You must travel to the place where your scotch was made. You have to find the natural body of water that your scotch originated from and walk there barefoot in a show of respect and humiliation.

Upon finding it, you must fast for 2 days and nights while praying. Then, when your soul is clean, you must discard all of your clothes and scrub yourself in the holy water of your scotch using a large pumice stone.

Upon doing so, you must sleep in a nest of Scott's pine boughs. At first light, set out to find, track, and kill a large native ungulate that has drunk from the holy water. After feasting on its flesh cooked from a fire made out of driftwood collected at the edges of the sacred waters, you must create a pouch out of the animal's stomach.

Then, collect the majestic water in the pouch and find a nice fist-sized smooth black stone in the deepest depths of the holy water. Carve and smooth this stone into a perfect cube.

Return home hungry, alone, and scared. Cut off all ephemeral ties with the world so you can focus on your tasting. Make ice cubes using the holy water and place the stone cube in a -80 C freeze for 24 hours, followed by critical point drying.

Then, when you are ready, drink the scotch but don't use the ice cube or stone because that is for fags and only men drink scotch neat.

I don't know, maybe it's the very thought of drinking something expensive and aged for two decades that gets people excited? I usually like the more pronounced flavors of the younger stuff (I like laphraoig's peat), but like many people say, the flavors get more mellow and more "complex" as they age, and there's barely much peat in a 30 year old Laphraoig (or maybe the one I had was fucked, I dunno). It was good, but it wasn't something I wanted.

you can give Talisker 10 year a shot, not too expensive (but not really that cheap either, a bit cheaper than lagavulin 16). Good balance between peaty, sweet, and a touch of coast iodine.

They actually do make quite a difference. I was pretty surprised when I first tried using one.

Also, tonight I'm probably going for bourbon. I really like scotch as well and I have a few bottles but I really never got the popular opinion that it's somehow better than bourbon is. I'll probably go for some of my Blanton's gold edition.

Redbreast is definitely up there. I'm partial to Powers, though it's lower down, but the 18 year is very nice.

whoops. It was dumb of me to leap to that conclusion, and I am sorry.
