aside from the odd bar visit after work, or afternoon beer at work, where there might be snacks, I rarely drink beer with food. I don't care for a stomach full of malt and fizz and very few real meals call for beer. wine is much more diverse and pairable.

inb4 durr hurr craft beer is durr only drunk inbev durr. I understand there are different kinds of beer but nearly all have co2 and most have some hops and malt in varying amounts.

tl;dr beer with snack food or brats, or by itself. wine with nearly anything, or by itself. guess which one I drink more of.

I liked extreme beers the most when I was in my early 20s. It's natural, don't feel you have to impress anyone. You probably have an overwhelming preference for shiraz, zinfandel, and cabernet sauvignon too, and eschew white wines and light bodied reds. And islay malts over speyside. And so forth.

At the same time, don't be that spaz who shits on things that fall outside of your spectrum because you're discovering flavors for the first time. This is why "college kid" is a term of derision. Aside from the rednecks who actually resent education, a lot of it is based on the stereotype of the opinionated 20something who thinks he has experienced everything after a few years of living away from his parents.

My favorite drinking beers are in the IPA category. Fuck all of you, they taste good to me. I don't drink them with meals though because the taste is too strong, I like to go with something lighter in flavor. Usually with a meal I'll have a nice hefeweizen or some sort of plain lager or pilsner. Mexican beers go well with food too, light as fuck. I guess I'm saying I prefer the lesser-flavored mainstream beers with my meals and I save the craft brew for later.

Damn, I've never seen this one. I'm a fan of Sam Smith's oatmeal stout and nut brown ale. The other ones have been OK too. Is your pic related very hard to find? I'm pretty sure if I'd ever seen it I would have bought one.

Im not sure but the only place Ive seen it is The Flying Saucer in my city. I did tell the local specialty liquor store that carry the oatmeal stout and they said they could special order it for me. It tastes amazing

Tried both white and red ale. Nice brew, but $6 for a bottle (11oz?) is too much for me.

>The stuff at grocery stores is crap.
depends onw here you live

Here in the upper midwest, most grocery stores have a really good selection. usually about 75% of the selection of good liquor stores but usually a little cheaper than liquor stores

people who say bad things about people's beer choices are gay. i like pabst, i don't know why that makes me a hipster. i like IPAs, that doesn't make me a tryhard faggot. i used to be guilty of this myself, judging people who drink smirnoff ice and other things i don't like. live and let live

Right on. Drink what tastes good to YOU, and fuck all. Let others drink what they like as well. I only judge when somebody refuses to try something new because they're so set in their rut. At least taste something before you claim to not like it. And if you really still think Bud Light tastes better to you, then by all means keep drinking that.

If someone buys Bud Light, I will judge them, I probably won't say anything depending on my relation with the person, but they definitely deserve to be judged for their actions.;

People should be held accountable for dumb things they do, otherwise they will probably keep doing them

These threads make me sad. It's next to impossible to get any american microbrew beer in Québec. Well, an american microbrew beer occasionaly pops up at local brewpub, but outside of that no places ever carry any.

We do have our own breweries but I'd really like to try the stuff you have down south.

Anyway, back on topic, call me a tryhard but I like stouts and tripel. A good imperial stouts goes really well with a burger in summer.

I love stouts, if a beer can't be a meal all on its own then what's the point?

xactly. Give me excellent beer and I'd like to drink it how it is, no food or garnish. Give me excellent food and I'd like a beer with it, but nothing with a strong overpowering flavor.

Yeah, true. I was able to get a 24 case for 4 dollars a bottle to share for the 4th. I figured I probably won't be drinking this any other time of year.

>D&Q
Not sure what that is. What is it? I do my liquor/beer shopping at Spec's in midtown. I'd suggest ANY Houstonfags go there for liquor, beer, cheese, bread, deli meat, and fine food shoppings. I know you've probably been to a Spec's if you live in the area, but that one in midtown is so far beyond any of the others.

Generally Spec's is awesome. It depends on the location though, some are much bigger and better than others.

It's a mini-mart in Montrose. Really small and ghetto looking but always has an amazing selection, especially for seasonals. Yeah Spec's on Smith is like Disneyworld for alcoholics. While it is hard to compete with Spec's price wise, D&Q always has a selection on par with Spec's and the owner is a bro (best customer service you will find). Also, everything can be broken down to singles.

The ones out in the suburbs are pretty amusing somethings because no one fucking buys beer. I feel sorry for the dude who works the one near me. Although they always have stuff I want.

Aw shit, I've been there I think. It's the one on Richmond or Alabama right? Nice little store with good selections. I've been there a few times but forgot about it. I do my main beer and liquor collecting at that Spec's in midtown these days. This makes me want to check out the d q again though.

I'm seeing a disturbing lack of love for Bell's in this thread.

I love 90 minute, but the only thing that touches two-hearted imo is Stone. Then there's hopslam...and their amber is just amazing, balanced, caramelly, not as biscuity as fat tire.

Rogue is my personal favorite on the west coast though.

Of course
