I have a problem mixing alcohol and soda. It's tasty when you get a good mix. Instead of a float, on the weekends I make a mixed soda.

lmfao, but yeah off topic as that is i do enjoy mixed drinks...i pretty much only do whiskey or brandy with dark soda (cola, root beer, dr. pepper). e&j mixed with vanilla coke is my go to drink, and fuck anybody who says mixing is for pussies...trust me i can take shots straight...problem is a bottle doesn't last very long that way if you like to sip (which i do) and you end up trashed way too fast. i consider mixed drinks a way of spreading the alcohol out, so it lasts me alot longer.

I have been wanting to try this, but I drink stouts very rarely, and always good imperial stouts such as the one pictured. I am afraid to ruin a really good bottle of beer, how well does it work? Would I be better served by simply eating a bowl of ice cream while drinking said stout?

They're too too obvious but cola and cream soda, both with vanilla ice cream. Even though cream soda is vanilla flavoured I'm not that gone on it.

Tried chocolate ice cream for this a couple of times, my palate didn't like it one bit.

I personally hated floats until I accidentally got one made with melon soda in Japan. The menu said cream soda.

Melon soda is easily the best soda I've ever had, but it completely blew my mind how good it was with vanilla ice cream.
