Hi /ck/! First time /ck/ poster here.

Today, while at a local estate sale, I stumbled across an interesting document. I had hoped to find a frappe maker, but was happy either way.

And so I present, "Happy Homemaking-150 Helpful Hints for the New Bride"

I hope some of you guys find this as interesting and perhaps as inspiring as I did. Have fun cooking the way it was in the good ol' days

Jesus, these brands and traditions are still around. What year was the book published? Those 50's and 60's were brutal for the US, the downfall of proper eating habits. Everything started being sold in cans and boxes. Muh technology, mug extra free time.

I'm thinking it was published in the early 50's because of the artwork and the runtime of Modern Romances Magazine, though there was no date on the booklet.

A really entertaining post. I saved the chart, really useful for a cooking noob.

Those were the days ... I have a children's chemistry and experimentation book from around the same time with detailed instructions on how to procure the ingedients for and make gunpowder and how to set off coal dust explosions.

Sad what we have become.

Actually, the advice for meats was really sound. And i nthose days they had better, if more seasonal, fresh product because big corporations still hadn't bred out al lthe good characteristics of foods. It's just a shame they went for canned and premade goods so much but I suppose it seemed like a brand new world of possibilities to them.
