What cooking shows does /ck/ like?

I've recently developed an addiction to chopped.

>> No.4545707

Triple D, Good Eats, Bizarre Foods, he occasional one on travel channel, that one on CNN with Anthony Bourdain, America's Test Kitchen, and some local ones on PBS.

I used to watch chopped until they bent the rules one show and allowed a douchebag (literally this guy was a pompous jerk) pass to the next round when he didnt use all the ingredients. This was over another contestant who did use them all. This despite their strict adherence to that rule up until that point. I watch stuff woth gordon ramsey otherwise

They're all over the place. Some episodes it's automatic disqualification, and in another episode, the host specifically said it wasn't. They also let one guy who worked on his plate after the timer stopped for a few moments to proceed to the next round.

Imagine what they'd look like without the scaffolding holding them up and giving them a desirable shape...

>> No.4545769

chopped used to be good but it sucks now, most of the "chefs" are really bad, they keep reusing the same ingredients
presentation doesn't matter with food and anybody who cares about anything other than flavor is a pretentious twat.

it drives me nuts when people don't use an ingredient and get to move on. Ever think that if everyone else hadn't been spread thinner trying to work all the ingredients in maybe their food would have been better?

"this guy didn't use the lime jello"
"your lime jello dish was bad so you get chopped for it"
what the fuck guys?

The worst is the "specials" with the all _____ (lunch lady, fireman, "celebrity", etc.) lineup.

Some retard fireman boils a hotdog and puts it on a salad and all the judges fall over each other saying he did a good job with the ingredients.

Some fat hairy-moled lunch lady shows why our kids are fat with some atrocity and the judges are obsequious and can't stop the head patting.

Fucking retarded.

I like how she pretended to love her body and act like she was a role model and didn't understand the obsession with weight... then dropped the weight as fast as possible when she got uber fat and was probably told to shape up or get off t.v.

Pretty sure it counts. I personally really enjoy MKR. The only show on Australian television that I willingly watch.

I somewhat agree with you, although the presentation of food does affect taste (whether we want it to or not). Your vision will fuck with your other senses to no end.
Of course, hardly ever will the presentation be so bad that it will affect the taste, I don't think this would happen with anyone but the most pretentious of food snobs.

>> No.4547154

Bizarre Foods, No Reservations, Good Eats, and a few youtube cooking series (CWD, RR999, Asian at Home, Ochikeron, Foodwishes). I'd like to find more non-asian youtube shows to watch as well, but I just don't see that many that aren't trying to emulate epic meal time or whatever.

LOL I always love that, especially when they go so far out of their way to hide every other corporate logo in sight, even taping over the soda dispenser labels that never have anything to do with any episode.

I enjoy Restaurant Impossible and Kitchen Nightmares.

Good Eats and Chopped to a lesser extent

Though the specials where the food network chefs compete (In Iron Chef, Chopped, ect) are always fun
