I have never had any interest in drinking before and I am in pretty good shape. I recently heard how moderate drinking can provide some health benefits and am currently trying to decide if I want to try doing it once or twice a week if it promotes better health.

What should I look into drinking as like I said I have never had a major interest in doing so or looking into it.

>> No.4508399

By that, it means one or two drinks a day, not getting shitfaced once a week.

A cup of red wine a day is supposedly excellent for your health.

But those studies are probably funded by wineries and health specialist are always contradicting themselves/changing their opinions every 5 years, so you better don't turn to be a health freak.

Would rather try something else than wine as IIRC there are some benefits to Vodka. Wine is something I may look into though

tl;dr you don't need to plan to get antioxidants, you get enough just from existing... unless you eat very poorly

Beer fine?

Any alcohol is good for you. Drinkers live far longer than teetotalers, even if you drink more than the recommended guidelines, which are pulled out of thin air.

The health benefits of wine specifically are less well known after a huge scientific controversy:

Churchill and FDR drank. Hitler didn't. Who are you trying to blame there, mein furer?

It's good that Hitler didn't drink. It might have made him violent.

Lowers blood pressure.
Alcohol can be used as a disinfectant in an emergency.
Vodka is the best cure for Ethylene Glycol (antifreeze) overdose.
It can help you get to sleep (though the actual quality of sleep will suffer)
It can calm jangled nerves in a stressful situation (though tea is best for this)

Everything mankind has ever done is much easier if you are very slightly drunk:

Is this the only newspaper that anyone on 4chan has ever heard of?

For an American board, that Brit hack rag really does show up a lot. Disproportionately so.

Wine or craft beer.
Since a lot of craft beers are brewed with fruit and whatnot, they have some nutritional value. Supposedly.
I'd drink beer anyway. It tastes better.

Goes great with genuine dairy cheese and some real natural fruit, although some people prefer to drink non bum-wine or even a perfectly safe brand of vodka.

Stay classy, America.

Dude, the news that "moderate drinking is good for you" has been out since the mid-1980s. Likewise "red wine has some great compounds in it that help your heart health."

OP, red wine is supposed to be the best, but white wine and beer are also ok. High-alcohol-content stuff has some downsides to it (oral cancer), so using it as a weak mixer is suggested if you go that route.
