I can't think of a single food this improves. It ruins everything.

>but muh thousand island dressing
>but muh big mac special sauce
>but muh in-n-out spread
>but muh fry sauce

Face it, you like those foods because of the mayonnaise. I promise you can live without the ketchup in them.

>> No.4349043

Fry sauce to me has always been bbq sauce plus mayo.

I do like a touch of katsup on scrambled eggs though, to replace the salt.

I used to put ketchup on everything, now I've cut it out all together and I don't miss it.

Damn shame that I have a bottle of that shit in the fridge though, anyone know something to make of it?

I'm pretty sure the only thing I use mayo with is tuna fish sandwiches. I use ketchup on fries, tater tots and fish sticks. Oh, and burgers, hotdogs and corn dogs. Ketchup goes with a lot of stuff.

In order for fry sauce to be fry sauce it has to have the ketchup. Regular mayo on fries is disgusting. Just ketchup on fries is just as unfortunate. When done correctly, the combination of the two is one of the most glorious things to ever come out of Utah.

>> No.4349173

take an onion and several peel tomatoes and boil them in vinager, add a half a peach if you want, use apple cider viniger. put in a bell pepper maybe.

strain the whole thing at the end, and you have really good ketchup that everyone in new england would have made at home a century or so ago.

ketchup is actually a malaysain word it means preserved in viniger, hence tomato ketchup. in melvelles time they had walnut ketchumps, long bean ketcup, all sorts of stuff. hence 57 varitals.

These threads could stop, guys.
And /ck/ wouldn't be a poorer board for it.

Ketchup, like pretty much any other condiment-sauce, is a matter of personal taste and correct application.
Personally, I like it with fried chicken and with fries. I find the sweet of sugar and the sour of vinegar compliments the grease and salt.

I've been using ketchup for a long time, but lately as I've been trying to put more effort into cooking, I figured there has to be a better alternative.

So today I'm making a homemade BBQ sauce for my hamburgers. Anyone got simple recipes to share? So far I'm thinking tomato paste, honey, salt, garlic, onion and chili. I also heard that you can use whiskey in BBQ sauce, tempted to try that.
