Hey /ck/, I'm going to be making a big pot of chili tomorrow to do me for some of this week, tell me things to add to my recipe. Currently it's pretty basic, just mince, chopped tomatoes, birds eye chillis, red wine, kidney beans, peppers and onion. Also cheese, sour cream, salsa and wraps for eating it with a lot of time.

Nobody?

Ancho chiles, guajillo chiles, serrano chiles, cumin, ginger, garlic. Also, buy a chuck roast or something and chunk it, it works better than using ground beef

Thanks, I forgot to put garlic on my original list but do put it in. I'll have to give cumin and ginger a shot, but the only shops near me are Aldi and Sainsburies Local which are both useless for meat in general.

do NOT put cilantro. Fucks up the flavor.

I make chilli for my parents every now and then but they throw a shitfit if I don't use their disgusting stewed tomatoes.

>> No.4267563

unless you forgot to mention spices, your chili lacks spices.

even if you're giving it heat through peppers, you'll probably want to salt it and such.

Yeah, salt, pepper and some herbs will be going in there, maybe some cumin and chilli powder if necessary

I like black beans in mine, and a few jalepenos. And a beer. Corn is good sometimes too

That's not fucking chili, that's spaghetti with cheddar on it

>> No.4267967

Celery and cumin. Amazing.

>> No.4268007

Actually it tastes more like dog food with cheddar cheese on spaghetti noodles. I have no clue why Cincinnati chili is so awful. Probably because it's decent flavoring away from just being sloppy joe mix.

>> No.4268385

Ground cumin, smoked paprika, garlic, (shredded carrots if you want some sweetness in the chili), oregano and ½l. of beef stock for every ½kg. meat.
