I'll be staying in a hotel with a small fridge and microwave for about a week. I'd like to get some food at the grocery store instead of eating out all the time but what would you recommend I get/make? Id rather not just get a bunch of tv dinners.

I'm also considering bringing my little toaster oven and any other basic utensils.

you have a traveling sort of job?

I guess the obvious thing would be frozen veg (should be okay thawed in fridge) and potatoes. If you bring your toaster oven then you can make toasted cheese sandwiches and tomato soup

You can cook rice okay in the microwave. Or you could just get Minute Rice or something like that.

I think if you bring in extra things and you cause a fire, you'd be in deep shit.

Deli slaw, potato salad, salsa n chips, artichoke dip n pita chips, fruit salad, salami, cheese. Just one thing like avocado or fresh salad will freshen up a cold sandwich with warmed meat, whether pulled pork or a hot dog. Rotisserie chicken would last a couple of days.
Microwave some steam in bag edamame, brown rice, pot stickers. egg rolls.

I never thought to keep food in those mini refrigerators. I usually just keep a 30 pack in there and order pizza.

>> No.4191438

If you must bring a toaster oven, use it in the bathroom so you can use the ventilation fan. If there's a coffee maker you can do some things with that like boiling water, but microwave can achieve similar results.

As another anon said, rotisserie chicken would be useful for a few days and you can add it to a lot of things.

you're traveling, enjoy eating out, you'll be burdened with having to cook for yourself once more when you get home.

Yeah I was thinking about that. Also its a smoke free room and I would probably be afraid of setting an detector off.

Maybe I will do the toaster oven bathroom thing.

I love cooking and I already do it everyday.

You can still boil water. Use that to make things like oatmeal.

Oh, and you can still melt cheese over things. Try getting some tortilla shells, microwaving them with cheese, and putting some vegetables on top. You can cook the vegetables briefly in boiling water as well, if that's your preference

Toaster oven? Fffuuuq dat, it's not very space efficient. Bring a hotplate or a camping propane stove/burner and a pan, you're fuckin' set, mate.

If you can afford it, eat out.

There's nothing like hotel life.

After 7 years I have finally come to the conclusion that traveling for work sucks. I'm now officially sick of being away from home eating dinner at a restaurant bar alone surrounded by people I don't know and will never see again.

I'll take your place. Please hand me my suit.

I'd happily fucking chill in my hotel room with my laptop and restaurant, with my take-out food and rental car, in some place I'll probably never visit again, all paid for by the business, while my bank account grows fatter.

The thing about traveling for work is that you're the only face of your company that some people will ever see. That means that most companies are careful and don't necessarily want to hire a paranoid delusional drug addicted transvestite hooker for roles that require that kind of work. If you know what I mean. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'd recommend going to a store like Costco if you can and getting some of those amazing ready-made platters of turkey wrap slices, salad, etc - they are fucking GREAT.

Or buy a bunch of sandwich ingredients and microwave the finished product until warm and delicious
