Are calories still important if the food has 0 grams of fat?

>> No.4164961

Beer has no fat and I have me a dandy beer belly.

Yes.

Even in things like fruit and veggies?

A calorie is a calorie. It does not matter where it comes from. You can and will get fat from eating too many fruits and vegetables.

I'd have to disagree. The sheer volume of fruits and vegetables you'd have to eat to get above your TDEE would be impossible to ingest daily.

There is a bit of proof that if your food is heavy in carbohydrates you will gain more weight compared to the same calories made of other macronutrients. The reason behind this is that carbohydrates are the best in elevating your insulin and insulin is the best anabolic substance in your body. In normal people this means that raising you insulin regularly to high amounts cause your body to store energy.

Are you retarded? Or are you just a fatty deep in denial?

It would be possible to get fat on bananas. It's true you could never get enough calories from something like broccoli, though.

I've been meaning to ask you guys this, and this seems like the appropriate thread to ask it in.

Should I focus on getting food that has fewer calories, lower fat, or lower sodium? Which one is better for me in the long run?

>> No.4165098

>>4165065
Sodium doesn't affect you weight. Fewer carbohydrates is a good thing.

>> No.4165107

>>4165065

Lower calories, because then you will get less sodium. Lower fat is waste of time, because you need fat. Just stay away from trans fats and you can eat pretty much all the fat you want, as long as you control your calories.

Calories have nothing to do with sodium.
Calories are a unit of energy.
Sodium is a chemical element. They are completely different things.

Well duh, no shit Sherlock.

The point is that the less energy you get, the less micronutrients are bound to come. The amount of sodium is not directly related to the amount of energy, but you will probably eat less sodium on a average 2000 kcal diet than on 5000 kcal low fat diet.

Yeah, if you want to get fat and raise cholesterol, sure.
