I love my homemade burgers, but I think of them as being something separate.

When I want a McDonald's burger, no homemade burger will ever make the craving go away. And if you don't mind me saying, I make some god tier cheeseburgers.

People are just butthurt because they watched some food television program and now they're instant gourmets who don't eat "heavily processed" foods anymore.

It's popular to hate on the top dog.
That's why people bash on Wal Mart all the time.

That said, I haven't eaten McDonalds in years. Mostly because I've really dedicated myself to learning how to cook the past few years.
It's cheaper for me and it's great to eat something you cook yourself.

Plus I've been trying to really lower the sodium intake from my diet.

I consider McDonald's as the worst tasting burger ever. Especially the kind in the pic. I bought one once and was given one another time. The patty is thin and too dry due to rather overly-thorough cooking. I don't know where people who claim that they had burgers dripping with grease got theirs from, but it's not like that at any McDonalds I ate at that I can remember.
You can request they forgo their bland pickles, rehydrated onion, ketchup and mustard, but if you do the thing becomes unbearably dry.
Despite these things, they have an aroma that smells at once intoxicating and disgusting. My brain makes me salivate for food just smelling it, even though I know what's inside is not healthy or even that delicious...so I have grown to hate them as a "trap" food.

It's no big secret that they're cheap as shit when it comes to turning a profit, so what you're eating is basically the bottom of the barrel in nutrition and quality. Case and point, look at their McRib. Nice troll, OP. But one of the best things I've ever tasted was a McD's double cheeseburger. My car broke down outside Vegas, and for 6 hours, I thought I was going to die in the sun. Finally made it into the city, and I only had enough money left on me to buy a double cheeseburger and drink at the Luxor. I practically had tears of joy running down my face as I ate that burger.

Make burgers using 70% lean chuck. Ask your butcher for it or get yourself a hand-cranked meat grinder for $40 and do it yourself.

There you now have greasy burgers that baste in their own juice while cooking. And they are home cooked and healthy.

I find McDonald's hamburgers are simultaneously greasy AND dry. Not to mention one half of the bun is twice the thickness of the patty.

People like them because they like sweet white buns and sugary condiments.

People hate on McDonald's partially because, as noted, they're the top dog. A giant multinational mega corporation and thus the poster boy for anti-corporate protest; and by extension people naturally redirect that hate on their food. Also because they serve mass produced food products that has to be served up in minutes and identically across across the country, (if not most of the planet,) there is probably a tendency towards a lowest common denominator blandness.

However most of us grew up on their shit and are have a hard time to truly hate on McDonald's at the end of the day. The taste of the burgers and aroma of fries triggers feelings of childhood times.

I used to be like you, but then I grew up and decided to stop eating it altogether. After a year, I decided I would try eating a Junior McChicken. Couldn't even physically finish it without feeling sluggish, queasy, sweaty, bloated... After that, I haven't gone back.

It's been about six years since the last time I had a fast food burger, and I no longer feel the slightest urge to eat it. I also weigh about 30lbs less than almost any of my friends and I'm sure the reason is that I have a diet that's healthier than basically all of them. I don't mind fast-food burgers generally. I love Wendy's and shit. But I really dislike McDonald's burgers. If I go there, I get chicken. Their beef is bad and should feel bad.

It's sublimated, nobody will ever be able to recreate that exact taste. They've perfected the seasoning, the ratio of meat to cheese to pickle to bread. Home-made burgers aren't usually flat, or you're using pickle that you've used before so the taste is familiar, or your cheese isn't actually a singlet but sliced sweet mature cheese, etc.

It's a combination that is very difficult to replicate. It may not necessarily be the taste, but proportions in physical size affect experience of taste quite a lot too.

I went to McDonalds sure, but not very often. Once or twice a year at most.

Now not even that. We stop in when on a road trip for coffee and maybe their breakfast. It's cheap and convinient. Last I was there was walking back from the train station across the city late at night. There was on in the city centre still open. Best £1 I ever spent.

Nothing special. Their coffee is nice and cheap, a lot better than some shitty weak tea in a chipped porcelain mug from said burger van. The meal itself was alright. It tastes good I'm not denying that. Just not OMG AMAZING I MUST HAVE MORE. Home made burgers taste so much richer and nicer (that's not really surprising though considering they're much more expensive when you buy proper minced beef). You can't make a burger from scratch when you're stopping at the side of the road for 10 minutes though.

If someone claims they enjoy fast food, they are a troll. Everyone knows that the billions upon billions of $ people spend on fast food is really just smoke and mirrors. Obviously some rich people got together and donated that money to make it *appear* we like fast food.

Pic related: have always been disappointed with McD's. Every burger had something about it that just tasted off.

Q.pounder meat tastes watery somehow. Double cheeseburger cheese has a yukky texture, needs more topping to balance it. All the other small burgers are too dry. The Angus deluxe came close, but the meat has that cheap sirloin taste to it and its dry.

Daily Double though, it is excellent. Give it a try if you've given up on the other burgers.

I love Rotten Ronnie's. I have dedicated a portion of my life to duplicating their double cheeseburger at home.

I have met with some success with nothing but beef, s&p, for the patty. Velveeta style processed cheese (although it lacks a certain plastic quality), FINELY diced yellow onion.

The problems that remain are the ketchup, pickles, and bun.

All that said, even if I perfect it... nothing beats that dripping with grease double cheeseburger. I usually eat 5 or 6 of them when I get the craving. Middle aged, 6'1" and 170lbs. moderation is for people who want to live a long time.

Home made burgers are of a different tier, but one day... I shall blur the lines of definition and bring the monster home to my kitchen, to stay.
