What is with people hating fast food burgers so much, particularily McDonald's.. Out of all the burgers I've ever tasted in my life, a $2 McDonald's double cheeseburger has got to be the nicest. I would choose a fast food burger dripping with fat over a homemade burger any day. What is with all these people saying that they're terrible? I mean, I can understand if you're put off by how fattening it is, but honestly, they don't taste bad at all. If you don't like fast food burgers, post here and tell me why.

You're going to get labeled as a troll, and maybe you are, but I actually empathize with you.

I love my homemade burgers, but I think of them as being something separate.

When I want a McDonald's burger, no homemade burger will ever make the craving go away. And if you don't mind me saying, I make some god tier cheeseburgers.

People are just butthurt because they watched some food television program and now they're instant gourmets who don't eat "heavily processed" foods anymore.

It's popular to hate on the top dog.
That's why people bash on Wal Mart all the time.

That said, I haven't eaten McDonalds in years. Mostly because I've really dedicated myself to learning how to cook the past few years.
It's cheaper for me and it's great to eat something you cook yourself.

Plus I've been trying to really lower the sodium intake from my diet.

I consider McDonald's as the worst tasting burger ever. Especially the kind in the pic. I bought one once and was given one another time. I would have to be very hungry to accept another one ever again. I'm not trying to bring anyone down, but hey you asked. And dripping with fat? Those things are dry as hell. All you taste is ketchup and pickles really.

Best burger I've ever had was from a country club's swimming pool "snack bar". Now those were juicy. That place smelled so damned good.

I can easily stomach a McDonalds burger, but I hate McDonalds as a store, and haven't stepped foot in one in many years.

Their cheese is crappy cheap shit. This is the case at most fast food places though, so..
The patty is thin and too dry due to rather overly-thorough cooking. I don't know where people who claim that they had burgers dripping with grease got theirs from, but it's not like that at any McDonalds I ate at that I can remember.
You can request they forgo their bland pickles, rehydrated onion, ketchup and mustard, but if you do the thing becomes unbearably dry.
Despite these things, they have an aroma that smells at once intoxicating and disgusting. My brain makes me salivate for food just smelling it, even though I know what's inside is not healthy or even that delicious...so I have grown to hate them as a "trap" food.

The quality of what you're eating is horrifying. It's no big secret that they're cheap as shit when it comes to turning a profit, so what you're eating is basically the bottom of the barrel in nutrition and quality. Case and point, look at their McRib. There's something like 70 ingredients in one, and a ton of them are weird ass shit even beyond just preservatives and dyes; chemicals, bleaching agents, and the meat itself has been admitted to basically being ground up offal and trash meat stuck back together with meat glue. And this is saying nothing of their business policies regarding factory workers, safety, cleanliness and treatment of animals, etc.

Think of it this way. If a company can turn a profit on a cheeseburger that sells for $1, that should tell you something about what the hell is in it.

>> No.4028356

Nice troll, OP. But one of the best things I've ever tasted was a McD's double cheeseburger. My car broke down outside Vegas, and for 6 hours, I thought I was going to die in the sun. Finally made it into the city, and I only had enough money left on me to buy a double cheeseburger and drink at the Luxor. I practically had tears of joy running down my face as I ate that burger.

>> No.4028360

Make burgers using 70% lean chuck. Ask your butcher for it or get yourself a hand-cranked meat grinder for $40 and do it yourself.

There you now have greasy burgers that baste in their own juice while cooking. And they are home cooked and healthy.

>> No.4028422

People hate on McDonald's partially because, as noted, they're the top dog. A giant multinational mega corporation and thus the poster boy for anti-corporate protest; and by extension people naturally redirect that hate on their food. Also because they serve mass produced food products that has to be served up in minutes and identically across across the country, (if not most of the planet,) there is probably a tendency towards a lowest common denominator blandness.

However most of us grew up on their shit and are have a hard time to truly hate on McDonald's at the end of the day. The taste of the burgers and aroma of fries triggers feelings of childhood times.

You're addicted to them. That's why you like them. That's why you prefer them over a "homemade burger". You were fed them young, grew upon them, never had anyone tell you otherwise about good burgers until you were past the point of return. four months.

Then two days ago, didn't want to bother stealing from the store again so I got a couple double cheeseburgers.

It's sublimated, nobody will ever be able to recreate that exact taste. They've perfected the seasoning, the ratio of meat to cheese to pickle to bread. Home-made burgers aren't usually flat, or you're using pickle that you've used before so the taste is familiar, or your cheese isn't actually a singlet but sliced sweet mature cheese, etc.

It's a combination that is very difficult to replicate. It may not necessarily be the taste, but proportions in physical size affect experience of taste quite a lot too.

Now I hit McD once every couple months, just out of nostalgia's taste.
Have you noticed that McD tastes like McD? No matter what you order? It does. It tastes like, smells like, and your turd smells like McD.

Speak for yourself. My parents cooked me actual food.

I went to McDonalds sure, but not very often. Once or twice a year at most.

Now not even that. We stop in when on a road trip for coffee and maybe their breakfast. It's cheap and convinient. Last I was there was walking back from the train station across the city late at night. There was on in the city centre still open. Best £1 I ever spent.

That's all it's good for. Cheap fast food. Fat fucks that go there to feed their family on a regular basis disgust me. People that "like the taste" confuse me.

I haven't eaten fast food in the last 2 months. I know for sure I haven't in the last 6 months when I last went home from uni and stopped for a random big mac on the way home because it beats a shitty burger van on an A road. Probably eaten fast food once or twice in the last 12 months.

> Then go have a full sized value meal at McDonald's or whatever, and tell me how you feel afterward. I fucking want to see that shit.

Nothing special. Their coffee is nice and cheap, a lot better than some shitty weak tea in a chipped porcelain mug from said burger van. The meal itself was alright. It tastes good I'm not denying that. Just not OMG AMAZING I MUST HAVE MORE. Home made burgers taste so much richer and nicer (that's not really surprising though considering they're much more expensive when you buy proper minced beef). You can't make a burger from scratch when you're stopping at the side of the road for 10 minutes though.

Its not standards, its called "groupthink". Surprised people for fall for that so readily. Your board is censored when someone can't make a comment without automatically being declared a troll for it.

I suppose the below points are not the "official" stance of all /ck/?

Even the worst homemade burger is automatically superior to all fast food.

If someone claims they enjoy fast food, they are a troll. Everyone knows that the billions upon billions of $ people spend on fast food is really just smoke and mirrors. Obviously some rich people got together and donated that money to make it *appear* we like fast food.

Pic related: have always been disappointed with McD's. Every burger had something about it that just tasted off.

Q.pounder meat tastes watery somehow. Double cheeseburger cheese has a yukky texture, needs more topping to balance it. All the other small burgers are too dry. The Angus deluxe came close, but the meat has that cheap sirloin taste to it and its dry.

Daily Double though, it is excellent. Give it a try if you've given up on the other burgers.

That's the key. If everything on the planet that goes by the name "hamburger" were eliminated tomorrow and only one could continue... I would want something a helluva lot better than a McD cheeseburger.

Thing is, they are all so different in flavor, texture, availability, price, that each one its own little place and will of course continue to thrive.

If you want to compare it quantitatively based on fat content or kcals, fine. But no amount of numbers and measuring are going to convince me that I prefer to experience flavor B today instead of flavor A. That's between me and my taste buds.

They cut down on a lot of costs with their products, which means that the products drop in quality.

Same deal with the burgers, if they don't get sold after a set amount of time (can't remember the exact numbers) they're supposed to throw them away, but they don't.
During check-ups on the restaurants they tell all personel to "follow the rules today".

I love Rotten Ronnie's. I have dedicated a portion of my life to duplicating their double cheeseburger at home.

I have met with some success with nothing but beef, s&p, for the patty. Velveeta style processed cheese (although it lacks a certain plastic quality), FINELY diced yellow onion.

The problems that remain are the ketchup, pickles, and bun.

All that said, even if I perfect it... nothing beats that dripping with grease double cheeseburger. I usually eat 5 or 6 of them when I get the craving. Middle aged, 6'1" and 170lbs. moderation is for people who want to live a long time.

Home made burgers are of a different tier, but one day... I shall blur the lines of definition and bring the monster home to my kitchen, to stay.

As a fast food industry, McDonald's would buy things in bulk (i.e. bulk sale) which would automatically make ingredients cheaper. Think of the millions of burgers and other sandwiches sold at McDonald's everyday. That ought to be enough to rake in a profit without the food being as shitty as you claim.
