Would someone care to explain to me what's so amazing about "New York" style pizza? All I see is a limp slice of pizza with way too much cheese and sometimes shitty pepperoni on it. The crust is pale and soft. Seems like something you could everywhere here in Europe - if you wanted to.

Fresh pineapple with prosciutto cotto is pretty awesome.

It taste good. Most NYC pizza really isn't anything special, but up until the past couple years you really couldn't go wrong with it either. Lately there has been a race to the bottom thanks to the popular chain called 2 Bros so everyone that doesn't have a reputation for having good pizza is trying to use shittier and shittier ingredients to make their slices a dollar or less.

There are some REALLY fantastic places though that serve pizza in that style though.

>> No.3991833

>>3991822
Depends on the restaurant.

I've always found New York style to be very tasty. Though that's from my favorite place.

The pizza I've had in Europe was pretty bland, although I don't know if I had Europe's best.

Having lots of melted cheese is a hallmark of a lot of American Pizza and it's fucking tasty, but that's just like my opinion man.

You're a liar and probably didn't look. Pizza is the one thing you can get anywhere in the country and it will taste good. Maybe not the best but it will be good enough to eat and enjoy.

I believe your bagel story since NYC is really the only city where a store can specialize in bagels and not go out of business. The bagels there are better than average but I don't get the hype

a few reasons why tri-state area pizza & pretty much all bread products taste better here than the rest of the country
water source- our tap water is far different & apparently better(at least for bread) than everywhere else
tomatoes- NJ tomatoes rival the quality of those found in Italy due to high acidity in the soil. Eat a tomato from any other state, they're bland, spongy & shit quality. Jersey tomatoes can be eaten right off the vine they're so flavorful & juicy
Italians- there's a fuckton more Italians in this part of the country than anywhere else except maybe the seniors in Florida
ovens- those Italians have been making pizza in the tri-state area for decades whereas the pizza craze didnt catch on til much later in the rest of the country. So those decades old ovens have collected decades of flavor from ingredients vaporizing in them during the baking process

It's on a focaccia style dough, with onion, garlic, parsley, basil, red chili flakes, and oregano in it. made with 25% wheat flour. the recipe is just an adapted version of the Focaccia recipe in Peter Reinhardt's "The Bread Baker's Apprentice"

Were you in the northern part? Florida has alot of NY style pizzarias, because there's alot of northerners around here, at least here in central Florida. There was one place when I was a kid that were those big ass flimsy pizzas that barely covered the paper plates and damn I miss those shits. When I bought a box from them it was the best day of that month
