boil water.
rinse rice.
add rice.
cover pot while heat is set to medium and just chill bro.

>> No.3977870

I put the rice in my pot, then let it sit on the heat for like 1 minute. Then I eyeball the amount of water I use (a little more over the top of the rice), let it boil, add salt and butta. Voila! Perfect rice erryteim.

Side note: What can you make with these ingredients: Bagged white rice, microwaveable bowls, sugar, and peanut putter. Any help would be appreciated.

Judging how much water to rice depends a lot on what type of rice you're using: short grain, medium grain, or long grain, and how firm you want the rice opposed to how soft.

You really need to experiment with water ratios, and soaking the rice for 30 minutes before cooking it. I went through the same mentality, where I thought there would be one simple formula for cooking perfect rice, but there's really not. Everything comes from doing it a bunch of times and adjusting to your mistakes.

Rice Cookers help a lot because they steam the rice instead of water boiling it, this is why asian restaurants have perfectly cooked rice with a little chew but not mushy.

When I cooked medium grain rice, I don't even use ratios but let the water reach my fingernail as a limit. That would probably be less than a 1 to 1 ratio, but with enough steam it cooks perfect very slightly chewy, soft, and separated grains of rice.

add sugar and peanut butter and stir.

How clear does the water have to be when you wash the rice?

Does it matter if you use cold or warm water?

>> No.3977995

>>3977989
Cold to lukewarm water is preferred, and washing the rice only serves to remove excess starch that would make theend result sticky. From my expirience, aash the rice 1 - 2 times, 3 if you're preparing a large batch.

Note: Wash it too much, and you'll wash away the flavours/arouma of the cooked rice

What's the difference between Jasmine rice and regular rice?

>> No.3978175

A little bit of lemon juice, olive oil, and a rice cooker. Add water and rice by eye. I've not had any burn this way.
