Alright /ck/, every year my family has a get-together, and I've been asked to bring one dish and one desert, I'll be running to the grocery store tomorrow so ingredients aren't an issue. Any suggestions for what I should cook/bake and bring? Also, it's in a rural area, so I'm not sure if they'd appreciate anything fancy.

sweet potato casserole. rednecks love it.

Boil sweet potatoes, peel, dice, put in a pyrex baking pan. Cover in two sticks unsalted butter, cover with 1/2 bag of brown sugar, then a whole damned bag of marshmallows. bake at 350 till the marshmallows melt and it's a goopy mess.

it's disgustingly sweet and will kill you but like I said, rednecks love it.
