Anyone on here ever made apfelwein?
Do I need to age in a primary, then siphon to a secondary, or can I just leave it in the primary for the entire aging process?
How long does it take to age, on average?

Made 5 gallons a few years back. Left it in primary the entire time until bottling. Pretty sure we left it for 4-6 weeks. Wasn't bad, don't expect anything sweet or overly tasty. It'll get ya drunk though!

And I'm pretty sure we did it with EdWort's recipe (your pic related) even down to the same brand of juice.

How was it? Would you recommend me doing it? Easy?
Did you use a carboy, or a bucket?
I'm considering a bucket, because its cheaper and if there is no reason to get a carboy I don't need to spend the extra.

Carboy with a real airlock exactly like the middle one in the picture. It was really easy, just have to make sure everything stays clean and sterile. I would recommend doing it, I know I was sipping on it for a long time and it only costs like 25 or so for the juice, sugar, and yeast. It tasted like a really dry white wine with a hint of apple flavor. Pretty good once you got used to it.

The only problem with a bucket I can see is it being easier to get contaminated if you're nigger rigging an airlock.

The bucket has a lid that fits a real airlock on, its just cheaper because its made from plastic rather than glass. I'm going to try it with the bucket, if it fucks up I'll get a carboy next time.
Thanks for the help

No problem. Pretty sure you can still get the Treetop AJ at Costco in 2 packs for cheap. And get real wine yeast.

I'm in the uk, so I dunno what I'll be using for the juice yet; no doubt it will be fairly expensive but whatever.
I'll also have to compromise on the yeast, but I'm going to google about because there are fairly extensive discussions about other yeasts strains people have used
