I greatly enjoy Penn Station.

Great Cheesesteaks, Great Italian Subs, Great Reubens, Pretty much every thing they make is wonderful.

Pot Belly is a distant second.

Firehouse and Quiznos are alright. My favorite chain is Larry's Giant Subs though.

i forgot about which wich, i love them. the food is a bit above mid tier but i really just love the whole concept of building your own combination of ingredients from scratch with no premade menu influence.

i'm gonna have to give the nod to potbelly and scholtskies. i like potbelly best overall but i also really dig scholtskies. sometimes nothing but a dark pumpernickel will satisfy, and their pizzas are actually quite delicious considering where they are from.

no 7 is good but if I'm in Manhattan and want a hero it normally comes from agata and valentina (not a chain). What pisses me off is that it is next to a subway. For the price of a subway cheese steak you could have the best italian sub in the city...but people go in and out of the shitty subway all day and most of the night.

kenny & ziggy's deli on post oak. its a fucking delicious and legit deli. it isn't cheap though, expect lunch to cost around $15. but look at where you are, damn near everything in the galleria is going to be expensive.

if you're willing to drive 10 minutes then go to torchy's tacos. just get on westheimer going east until you hit shephard. turn left on shephard and it will be damn near immediately on your right.

i love firehouse, but it still kinda depresses me. its me favorite sandwich chain, and all there sandwiches are magnificent- sept one, their classic itialian (spices meats like peperoni salami cappicola preccuto ect) excuse my spelling im drunk but anyway those classic cold cuts with provelone are always my favorite everywhere i go (sept subway fuck that) but sadly firehouses is just bad. its the only bad one ive ever had. anyone know this feel or an alternating similar one?

I don't really like any of those chains. I eat at Potbelly a lot because there is one across the street from my office, and the fillings are good, but the bread is terrible. Especially the wheat, which is what I get everywhere else.

i forgot about this one. i can't give a recommendation because i'm too afraid and too poor to order it. but man.....look at that. if you have a highly disposable income and the appetite of a fucking titan then by dog get this one. and take pictures and make a thread about it.

I like Publix subs (a grocery store), they are cheap and they bake the bread daily dat multi grain. They also use boars head and I can dig that.

Capriotti's is fucking great, but they aren't that big of a chain. Their pastrami is fucking good and they make the best cheesesteak I've ever had.

Jimmy John's is good, but their offerings are generic. Just had Firehouse for the first time while out of state. It was pretty fucking okay.

Schlotzky's sucks. I'm sorry, but they just suck. Not satisfying at all. And who puts black olives on a sandwich? Only autists and autist sympathizers.

I'm a big fan of Firehouse and Penn Station, but PS and Subway are all that we've got around here. The local pizza place in my hometown makes a rockin' sub though, I get one before I leave town.

Jimmy Johns, for its consistency/good prices.

There are shit penn stations and shit quiznos etc, but Jimmy Johns are all fucking spotless and you can get the exact same sandwich at any one and count on it to be as awesome as any other you have had.

I also go to a quiznos by my house when I have a couple extra dollars and get their carbonara small and a couple flatbread sammies with the roastbeef.

Recently moved here and none of the local chains I like exist here.

I've only been to JJ and Subway, but out of those two I prefer Subway. JJ bread feels like it was refrigerated an they overload toppings. Italian cold cut combo on flatbread with mozz toasted w spinach onions red wine instead and oil

I find that DiBella's is pretty decent, but don't go near closing or you'll likely get some pretty stale bread. Wegman's, despite being a grocer chain, usually does a pretty kick ass sub.

The deli counter at pretty much any supermarket in my area (Acme, Shoprite, Pathmark, Superfresh etc) will have sandwiches leaps and bounds better than Quizno's, Subway et al.

safeway deli in canada makes some badass paninis. I recommend you try the breakfast or 3 cheese they are fucking amazing

Newk's cafe is the bomb, though I'm not sure how widespread it is. Love the sandwiches, love the soup. Unfortunately, I just moved to a city without a Newk's, so I'm on the lookout for another sandwich shop. I've heard good things about Jimmy John's, so I'll probably be checking that out soon.

There are now no less than four subways in my town. It might not be a lot for a bigger town but I live in a small place in the very north of New York.

This madness needs to stop. The Quiznos here went out of business, and that makes me sad.

Nothing beats a good old Long Island deli. I mean an actual deli, not the ones that are run by mexicans. I mean the good old shops where you can get a roast beef sandwich loaded with meat, lettuce and tomatoes, salt and pepper, on a damn good kaiser roll.

When I was a kid, my father used to go to the deli every weekend and bring back egg sandwiches on kaiser rolls. Best years of my life.

They use big sub rolls so they can put fair amounts of things into the sandwich without it falling out. As a result the sandwiches are huge as they dont charge for toppings.

Protip: you can get almost the exact same sandwiches at Wegmans, and I usually do when I'm there.
