Is there any difference between canola oil and vegetable oil? Which one should I be using?

>> No.20511343

use canola oil when you're cooking canola
use vegetable oil when you're cooking vegetables

it's that simple

neither.
you should be using butter, bacon grease, tallow, ghee, or lard, or if you HAVE to use a plant based oil for some reason, use olive

I use canola oil because it's literally rape oil.

There's no huge difference really. I use vegetable oil because I have that obscure mutation that makes canola oil smell and taste fishy.

What the hell is vegetable oil? A blend of some sort?

>> No.20514037

It's just soybean oil. Calling it vegetable oil just tricks people into thinking it's healthy instead of heavily processed industrial slop.

they even put random vegetables on the label sometimes, even though it's just 100% soybean oil lol

Yeah peanut oil for popcorn, there's a definate difference between canola / rapeseed oil and peanut oil, most people parrot stuff because they have some creepy corn agenda to push.

I found some suspiciously cheap avocado oil at a store the other day. The only listed ingredients were "refined avocado oil, extra virgin avocado oil". Is this something not worth buying? 5.99 for 16.9oz seems like a steal otherwise.

>> No.20514263

>>20514243
there was some study or something on avocado oil that said a lot of them were cut with seed oils but not sure if they listed the specific brands

They put vegetables on there because you are supposed to use the oil to cook the vegetables or make a salad. Not because it's made from vegetables lol
