I dropped out of highschool in order to sell cars full time. My only experience with college town pizza was going to an Andrew Yang rally in the cafeteria of o nearby state school. His campaign purchased a couple dozen Greek style Pizzas for people attending. It was technically the first time I met a public figure. Anywho my college had both cheap and quality pizza - you could get decent deep dish due to the proximity to Chicago, but I distinctly remember eating Papa John's the most, since I'd usually snack on the included pepperoncini.

I went to a university in Ontario which, like most I imagine, had a bar in it. The bar had your basic bitch menu for the most part but there was this ridiculously good and cheap poutine on there. It was easily the best deal which made it difficult to not order it every time I'd pop in like a fatas fatass but goddamn it was good after like 3 pilsners.
The gravy was chicken broth-based and heavily peppered. The cheese curds were from a local farm in the area and the fries were very clearly Kirkland fries which I do have a soft spot for. I wish I could have it again.

I went to UIUC, and there was a fantastic gyros place named Zorba's a short walk from my classes. I ate there pretty often. They had a coupon deal, I forget how many coupons you had to collect before getting a free one. I had a bunch saved up because I always forgot to bring them. So, Zorba's reopened like a year later after I'd graduated and left.

This place sounds cringe on paper but it was fantastic. Pizza spot that only does one pizza a day, typically no tomato sauce, sourdough crust, served along a house made serrano/cilantro sauce and limes. Shit like potato or arugula on pizzas, they started out as a cheese shop and expanded into pizza so they often had interesting cheeses topping their pizzas too. Picrel is some of their shit this week, I'd pass by it on my way to the grocery store so I'd get a slice once a week while shopping. Definitely my favorite spot from college

Everyone has moved away since, including my family, since it’s impossible to afford living there unless you work for the university or hospital, are part of a family hospitality business or are just a rich retiree. The fried onions at freebirds is the one reason I might choose go there instead of super cucas lol, for me it was the bacon breakfast burrito though the carne asada tacos sometimes felt like the move instead.

Nothing beat coming home from hitting the bars on State Street, waiting in line an hour to grab a few slices of Mac and Cheese pizza, and blacking out at your apartment, eating the leftover Ian's when you finally woke up.

There was also this great hole in the wall Chinese place near Camp Randall and the engineering building. You got two Chinese dishes and a full pound of rice or noodles for like 9 bucks. By far the best restaurant deal on campus. Their General Tso's and Peanut Butter Chicken were actually pretty good too.
