Is it true that Korean kimbap originates from Japanese sushi (futomaki)?

>> No.20465967

According to the Japanese origin theory, the annexation period that were introduced during the nori rolls took root in the area, and vinegar instead of sesame oil using and using ingredients such as kimchi localization progressed, such as . In 1819 , a Korean book called ``Boyang Sejiki'' recorded a food called ``boksam,'' which is made by cooking rice and eating it wrapped in seaweed. Kimbap's name was originally 1935. published in a newspaper in [Five] is said to be the first appearance. '' in Japanese `` Norimaki In South Korea, it was also called , but in 1948 the Korean government's national language harmonization policy , it was designated to be called ``김밥 (Kimbap)'' due to .

From the 1950s onwards, kimbap gradually changed. 1958 March 29, on the Dong-A Ilbo An article published in states that vinegar, sugar, salt, and monosodium glutamate are mixed with rice. However, after that, the vinegar was dropped from the kimbap recipe, and the flavor began to be added with sesame oil and salt. [6] .

However the 1990s , the name "Norimaki" generally remained until , and in 1995 , the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (currently the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism ) published the "Japanese Mandarin Terminology Collection", and 1996 in , the National Institute of Japanese Language and Linguistics published the "Japanese Mantle". Published a book titled ``Living Terminology Collection'' and cited ``norimaki'' as one of the remaining Japanese vocabulary words used in daily life, and promoted the replacement of this with ``gimbap,'' and the name ``gimbap'' has since become established. did [7] .

Mainly the format of it (cut from larger rolls) is borrowed from Maki.

This all seems unlikely only from the standpoint that sushi started in Nihon around the time that tobacco entered Japan from, of all places, Cambodia. Kiseru, the long-and-thin Japanese smoking pipe, came through trade with the Mekong Delta, hence its Khmer etymology (khsier, in Cambodian) as did the tradition of souring fish by fermenting it in rice then eating it with freshly cooked rice (which is how it's still eaten in Laos and Cambodia) on sheets of dried algae called kaipen in Lao.
Sometime thereafter, Japanese began to sour the rice with vinegar rather than sour the fish through fermentation and modern sushi was born. Soured fish sushi still exists in Japan in some forms, such as that marinated fish one (hako-sushi literally "box sushi" made of fish marinated in vinegar or citrus juice then pressed into a square wooden form lined with rice, a drop lid pressed on (giving it its other name, oshizushi literally "pressed sushi"), the form removed and the square cut into bitesize pieces) and narezushi/funazushi, which are still done by fermenting the fish with rice (funazushi is identical to the Lao original in that it's made with freshwater fish).

Sushi back then was different than sushi we know today. Sushi also started in South Asia.

Yes, Korean cuisine has developed largely as a result of the various spheres of influence they've been under through the years. The fact that Koreans hate this has always bothered me- the fact that your nation can cannibalize and improve other nations' dishes (while still maintaining a distinct national identity) is a fact of strength, and shouldn't be hidden or claimed away with absurd ideas that Korea invented sushi or something.

Most of japan's foods aren't even japanese in origin. You have to remember the huge influx of european, especially portuguese traders, chinese (ramen and noodles in general), and korean (yakiniku, kobachi/okazu) migrations that shaped japan's cultural development.

And it shows how strongly it maintains its cultural identity because Korean food outside of Korea remains largely authentic
Chinese food's been Americanized, tapas has been Americanized, a lot of sushi was Americanized and exported back to Japan, Punjabi cuisine was Anglicized and exported around the world, but Korean food is pretty much the same everywhere

Koreans have tried very hard to steal things from Japan and make it their own. maki rolls labled as gimbap, ramen as ramyun, manga as manwha, jpop into K-pop. Unfortunately they have been extremely succesful with women and normalfags but they will never fool me.

According to the Japanese origin theory, the seaweed rolls introduced during the annexation period took root locally and were localized by using sesame oil instead of vinegar, kimchi and other ingredients, etc. In 1819, a Joseon book titled "Gongyang Hurangjoki" recorded a food called "boksam" (rice wrapped in seaweed), which was made with rice and eaten. The name "kimbap" was coined in 1935. The name "gim-pap" is said to have first appeared in a newspaper in 1935. In Korea, it was also called "norimaki" in Japanese, but in 1948, the Korean government's national language mellowing policy designated it as "kimbap" (김밥).

From the 1950s onward, kimbap was gradually transformed: an article in the March 29, 1958 Dong-a Ilbo stated that it was made by mixing vinegar, sugar, salt, and monosodium glutamate with rice. After that, however, vinegar was dropped from the kimbap recipe, and sesame oil and salt were used to flavor the dish.
However, the name "norimaki" remained in general use until the 1990s, and in 1995 the Ministry of Culture and Sports (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism) published "Japanese Language and Usage Junkashu" and in 1996 the National Institute for the Japanese Language published "Japanese Language and Usage Junkashu", listing "norimaki" as one of the remaining Japanese words in everyday vocabulary. In 1996, the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics (NINJAL) published the "Japanese Tongo Conjugational Junka Shiryoshu" and promoted the replacement of "norimaki" with "kimbap," which has since become a common name for "kimbap.

ramen isn't even japanese, its from China. Manga was copied form China's hand scrolls, and kpop and jpop are stupid western terms made up by the west. Neither koreans nor japanese made those words up. You can't steal from japan what wasn't even japan's to begin with. both of you guys come from mainly chinese influence.

whats messed up is that you think its koreans or japanese who say this stuff but its koreaboos and weebs that sperg online thinking they'll get some waifu or some shit. Not including the japanese schizo on /int/ who constantly lies about korea being the exception.
