Damn German food is great, and those German restaurants are always full of laughing, drunk German expat boomers having a great time and listening to accordion music or whatever.. it really destroyed that Hollywood notion of the humorless stone-faced ultra- literalist dork stereotype for me. I love them and their food. Maybe that meme comes from Berliners or something.

These meme places are so terrible..... we are fortunate to have a non-meme German restaurant that does great homeish food (the waitresses do wear dirndl, but modest). For me, it's going to be Schweinshaxe, Weisswurst, with a couple of asparagus sides during Spargelfest, and a liter (or 2) of some of their Deutsch draft beer that is apparently unavailable anywhere else in the state.
