What do you like to add to your pot of beans?

I want some ideas for things I can add to make them a little bit more flavorful.
Normally I just add
>garlic
>salted/smoked pork
>black pepper
>jalapeno pepper
Was thinking about adding a bit of oregano idk.

My classic go to is fry off some bacon, add garlic 5 secs and then add onion to stop it from burning. Let onions get golden (not too dark) and add the beans. don't forget he salt and pepper.

I add garlic and chicken boullion.
Cooked onion of any sort is great. Oregano, paprika, some sort of red pepper.
Cooking them differently gives you some great results. Baking them in a dish until the top gets that good good crust. Or tossing them in a pot in the grill for a smoky flavor.
It's hard to go wrong anon just think of things you'll enjoy that won't ruin the texture.
