Peas and beans cook at different rates unless the peas are very old. Yet another flawed GOYA product.

I really just don't believe there exists that many different beans. Are you counting peas too or something?

Barley isn't a bean. That's just a watered down 16 bean mix.

You idiots boil this into a soup rather than throwing the bag of beans into the dirt and growing enough food to feed a small army?

The lentils and peas kind of cook down into the broth, it’s nice.

One old trick for thickening stews is to add some lentils/peas early in the cooking process. They soften and eventually melt into the broth. Then add other lentils/peas later on.

>>20339467
I usually buy beans in bulk from the supermarket. They have different types and mixes.

Dry beans last around 20 years before they start tasting weird and stale and off-putting. Longer if you seal them with minimal air and keep them somewhat cool and away from light. I cooked up some beans in a glass jar from the late-1970's a couple years ago that my grandparents had on a shelf, and it turned into a kind of gelatinous slop, since the starches had broken down too much to hold the beans together when heated. It wasn't toxic, but it didn't taste very good.
