Triple distillation does make for a smoother, cleaner whiskey, yes.

The passage of time works the same outside of Scotland as within it, so a 12 year Irish bottle has been aged just as long as a 12 year Scottish one.

Scotland's not that cold in comparison to Ireland, which would never be described as a 'warm climate'.

I actually really like the middle-range johnnie walker (Green/Gold/Platinum(18)) for price/performance. They should run between $50-90 for those 3 in a 750ml. If you like peat, Laphroig should have plenty of options between $50-100. Lagavulin might sneak in around $90-110. Bruichladdich is probably a decent starting place if you don't know what you want. Glenfiddich 12/15 if you want a "classic" scotch.

this requires going two steps above bottom shelf. Here's the rundown. Bottom shelf is swill, fit only for actual alcoholics & college students (e.g., Evan Williams for bourbon; Burnett's for gin). Above bottom-shelf is a window emerging into decent stuff, going up to "great bang for your buck" (e.g., WT101, Evan Williams BiB for bourbons; Seagram's gin). These are good for enjoying personally but disreputable for servings guests, as you will seem cheap for offering them. The minimum acceptable for serving others who have self-respect are in the third tier, e.g., Maker's Mark, Bulleit; idk which gin fits here). Lastly, there is the starting-to-get-impressive category (e.g., Eagle Rare, Blanton's; Nolet's gin).
Above this is obviously the very high-end stuff, which has much more marginal returns and which a self-described alcoholtard has no use reaching for.
Another thing to note is that there are wildly different flavors within the same category, especially scotches and gins. DYOR and check tasting notes to see what you think you might like.
My personal picks for what to offer wealthy people on a budget:
Bourbon: Woodford Reserve
Scotch: Chivas Regal XII
Vodka: idk, maybe Ketel One?
Gin: Nolet's
Rum: Plantation Xaymaca

Found a bottle of Port Charlotte randomly at a grocery liquor store after being deflected by some unexpected traffic on my way to my usual ABC. Despite being way overpriced I bought it anyway having never seen one in person before. Relaxingly smokey regardless of being labeled heavily peated. I love me some rum and drinking it neat is the way to go but as vast as the whiskey exchange's options are any hints at picking nicer options would be appreciated. Just bought this today. It’s good but I found it ridiculously mute. I tried a swig of Tyrconnel (where irish single malts are KNOWN for being “le smooth” and subtle) and was overpowered with flavor in comparison. The flavor that IS there in the glendronach is elegant, caramel, fruity, etc but at $65 I feel like I bought overpriced water. Maybe I’m a filtered dumbgoy pleb that lacks subtlety or maybe I’m just not the audience for this style. If I pay money for flavor it shouldn’t be so dilute? Was much more impressed with their $100 (port?) aged stuff I tried at a whiskey bar a few months back

You're not always paying for stronger more present flavor.
JW blue is the classic example, $230+/bottle but its got a fairly light and mild flavour profile because it's a scotch meant as a gift for people who don't know about scotch. It's inoffensive by design, but it means real scotch fans tend to find it weak and overpriced for what you get. Still great scotch, but it's hard to defend the price.

I’ve tried grappa and pisco so I know grapes have something to offer (the St. Vivant is alright), but at $60 for 80 proof I don’t think I’ll get the cerbois and just wait until I travel somewhere else. That said, I’ve also tried Asbach 3 yr german brandy but I found it incredibly plain which is how I imagine all the cognacs to be (not to mention adulterated and overpriced like Hennessy etc). We have a full cocktail menu with several tiki drinks.

Look man the part that gets me is the absolute unwillingness to try something new. It's undiagnosed autism for sure. It's like the Irish dudes who will fly to a place thousands of miles from home and still only order Guinness and then only complain that it's not as good as the Guinness back home. I don't particularly like gin but if I found myself in a gin bar I'd get at least one gin drink, on an experienced bartender's recommendation. And if I don't like it oh well and if I like it then hey I just found something new that I like and that's awesome. And I would never go to a whiskey bar and complain that they only have half a dozen rums to choose from.

Official low cost blended scotch rankings:

J&B
Chivas Regal
Cutty Sark
Monkey Shoulder
Sheep Dip
Johnny walker black*
Famous grouse
Ballantines
Grants
Dewars
Johnny walker red*
Teachers

Price is factored in, so while some may taste slightly better (monkey shoulder, sheep dip) than others above them in the ranking their price point lowers them down the ranking as the slight improvement in taste hasn't justified the extra cost.

*never drink Johnny walker products unless it's the only choice or you were gifted it. It's the coca cola of scotches and you're outing yourself as a pleb npc - ESPECIALLY if its Johnny walker black. The quickest way someone can discredit themselves is to say how great Johnny walker black is.
