I know the man famous for the mission burrito
He is an old family friend very close to relatives
His burritos were for ease to enjoy in the city of San Francisco
His style of food is from Tijuana where he had his favorite places to eat
Chipotle copied everything about the giant burrito idea and made it about three quarters alright
Chipotle had good food before the immigration stormed the place
Since then is a better than nothing shithole no reason to go back ever should a real mexican joint be in the same area
La/Sd burritos are fine when its older folks who care about whatever they are cooking
Fuck off kids, go show up at amazon or some shit leave the cooking for grown folks
Hating burritos is wrong, the problem is you haven't found a place that is actually good
Once you find the place that works for you support it cause even though they last they dont last forever
Get tacos to try the filling then once that os done go for the burrito ask for all meat with salsa maybe melted cheese, later beans may be alright but never rice since it's filler and pointless

The OP is retarded, but he is kind of making a point - just not the one he thinks. You’ve never heard of mission burritos because they’ve been the default burrito in the US probably since before you were born, so people just think of them as “burritos”. They’re exactly what the OP said, which is the kind of burrito you can get at Chipotle. Before mission style, burritos were smaller, and only had a few ingredients. The mission style uses an oversized flour tortilla and packs in an entire plate of food with sauces and sides. OP isn’t really attacking anyone, because nobody thinks burritos are anything special. He probably just read some clickbait’s article about “the best mission burritos in the Bay Area” and assumed that people from the Bay Area don’t actually realize that mission burritos aren’t really a regional thing because he’s an idiot.

I'm saying the mission burrito is a distinctly American thing. Before that, burritos were basically slightly larger tacos that were rolled instead of folded. Think of it like Tex-Mex, except Cali-Mex. SD fish tacos are another example.
>>20308168
They're called "Mission" burritos because they became popularized in the Mission District of San Francisco. I would guess it was named the Mission District because it did have a missionary at some point in the past, but the burritos have nothing to do with Catholicism or the pope or whatever nonsense that other anon was spouting. And as far as popes go, the current one is actually kind of based.

Pepperoni rolls originated in West Virginia, thus they are a West Virginia regional food. The best ones come from small bakeries like Country Club in Fairmont and Tomaro’s in Clarksburg, not from convenience or grocery stores.

>cheese crisp
Not overrated. It only uses a flour tortilla, butter, and cheese, but the crunchiness makes it absolutely godlike. It's all about how it's cooked. The ultimate appetizer: no visit to a Sonoran Mexican restaurant is complete without one, especially if you dip it in the complementary hot salsa that every sit down Sonoran Mexican joint serves

>chimichanga
They're good but they are a little overrated. They feel way too decadent most of the time, like in a "you better not have eaten anything else today, fatso" way. You can also usually find a more spicy or meaty main dish, or something with a more interesting outer layer like a stuffed pepper. At the end of the day, it's basically a burrito. These actually are crazy popular outside Arizona and I'm puzzled as to why these took off but the cheese crisp didn't

>Chicken fried steak is overrated. It doesn't taste that good. Combining the steak texture with the crust texture doesn't work. And you always either get dry steak or soggy crust, sometimes both.

Holy shit this, finally someone has said what I've felt all these years. I give it chance after chance, each time I order it I keep expecting this to be the time I finally get won over. I love steak, I like fried chicken, so what's not to love? Well every fucking time I order it, it doesn't matter what restaurant I go to, it always sucks. The breading doesn't stick to the steak and rips off by the motion of your knife cutting the steak. The steak itself is always paper thin because they're pounded to them more tender, but it's always chewy and hard to cut anyways. I get it, you can't just pan fry a breaded thick ass ribeye because there won't be any crust on the meat itself, but each time I get some shitty sirloin that's been pounded up the asshole, it sucks.

That being said, I'm a God damn 30 year old man and even now I'm still willing to give it another try. If I could just find the perfect restaurant that does it perfectly, I'd be converted without a question. I used to think it's a regional thing because I lived in the Midwest, so maybe it's just chefs here can't cook it, it's a southern thing. Well I moved to the south a few years ago, specifically Texas, and each restaurant/diner I've been to and tried it at sucks. It always sucks. I'm sorry to be the one to break it to you boys.

Muir woods, maybe? I'm closer to bodega/tamales bay.

I don't think the beauty of my area and property will ever get old. I'm not by the redwood forests, but the wide open spaces, and rolling hills with old barns and cows definitely has its own charm. It's extremely difficult to do any sort of building in sonoma county, but the plus side of that is it will probably always remain pretty and rural/ag use only.
