On my dads side, grandma never cooked a lot for me and my grandpa got dementia and died when i was very young.

On my moms side my grandma was an alcoholic estranged by my mother and my grandpa never cooked and died of a heart attack around when my other grandpa died.

There's a story about this which is older than any of us about the sun and moon chashing each other, once in a while they might chach other those are very rare occasions.

My grandpa was always frying an egg and drinking coffee. After dinner, in the middle of the night, for breakfast. And he'd leave his disgusting stained coffee cup in the microwave and heat it up in the middle of the night. We'd go out to eat and he'd play with his food and take so long causing everyone to get irritated with him. He was great.

Cant find a picture online but my Nan used to cook minced beef with onions(seasoned of course) and serve with carrots, green beans, peas and boiled potatoes. I guess it was a post war thing, but I have made it recently and it works!

Funnily enough, when I tried to recreate it, I used an OXO cube and black pepper and although Americans might laugh because it's not covered with ketchup and full of HFCS and looks bland, it does taste good.
