Family friend just gave me like 4 pounds of ground deer meat. I've only ever made deer tacos before, and want to try something else. What are some good ideas? Preferably not too difficult. Pic obviously unrelated

Make some deer chilii, I'd sure try that out. It's already ground so it seems natural.

Get some of these Hawaiian buns and make deer sliders

Did they add pork fat to it or did they give you 4 pounds of 97% lean?

That's the one thing I considered making thus far. Will probably try it later next week.

It has a little fat free sticker on them

You're gonna have to add fat to that meat in order to do anything with it. Mix in 20% ground bacon or lard or something like that. I grew up in the country and we killed 7-10 deer a year, I ate very little beef until after I left home for college.

Venison meatloaf (with added fat) sounds like something decent for your situation. If you wanna get wild, maybe lasagna?

OK, thank you for telling me. I didn't know that. Are there any other things I could add instead? Just wanna know my options
>>20267644
Both of those sound good. I'm definitely down to trying meatloaf. Thank you for that recommendation

"deerloaf" that seems good, I'd sure as heck try it out.

Venison chili is easy, it gives you a wide margin for error on the venison and it's really delicious. Venison is prone to getting tough when overcooked, but between the acid and long cooking times chili gives you a really wide margin for error. If it gets tough, just cook it some more and it'll come around.

Can I use something like butter or is that not enough? Apologies if that's a stupid question

You'll be better off using lard or tallow

I'm not gonna stop you, but it's unlikely to taste any good. Butter and venison have distinct flavors that are unlikely to work well together.
