>Founded in 1930 in Winter Haven, Fla., Publix has grown to be the largest employee-owned company in the world. Today the company boasts more than 175,000 employees with more than 1,100 locations across six states.
>In an industry where layoffs are common, Fortune magazine recently reported that the company has not had to lay off a single employee in the 86 years since it was founded!
>That happiness manifests itself in Publix’s tiny 5% employee churn rate (in other words, a measurement of how many people leave the company) while the retail average is around 65%.

Overpriced but what isn't these days. Me and my buddy only go there because of convenience, BOGOs, & the subs. Personally I think they've been dropping off in quality with their subs and the customer service; it still beats going into wal-mart and dealing with hoards of basketball Americans and other undesirables.

The selling point was that they were huge. For the same price as subgay, you got way more meat/cheese/toppings on your footlong. For me it's footlong roast beef on wheat with provolone, mustard and mayo, all toppings except lettuce, salt and pepper. Delicious.

They've sold subs at the deli since I was a kid, which is now a long, long time ago. They used to use soft Cuban bread for their subs way back in the day, and while it was prone to getting a little soggy, I still remember them fondly.

The only grocery store worth talking about is the Buford Highway Farmers Market. Everything else, including Wegmans and Pavilions, are just chains.

>> No.20195420

Publix sucks. The main attraction was the subs, but the sub counter is staffed by foreign, geriatric, melanated, ESL, obese, low IQ, and lethargic women. Each person in line ordering a sub takes around 15 minutes. So if there's three people ahead of you you can expect to receive your sandwich in about an hour. Order ahead you say? Doesn't really work for hot subs, but sure, you can do that. And your sandwich will be wrong. Maybe Publix has a few other good items here and there but without the subs being an option (because who has an hour minimum to stand in line for a sandwich?) I just don't go there at all. Plus, their fried chicken is terrible. Way, way too salty.

>> No.20195433

>>20192187
I work a quarter mile from a Publix so sometimes I'll order a sub. They do a weekly deal and it's better quality than something like Subway, it's cheaper than subway, I can order it ahead of time and never talk to a person, and that publix has a little enclave with tables to scarf it down.

FUCK HEAT AND FUCK HUMIDITY. I had to go to Florida in the middle of summer and it feels like walking through a pressure cooker. After just 5 minutes, my clothes merge with my skin thanks to all the sweat and the sweat doesn't even do it's goddamn job because of all the humidity in the air.
>Oh, the sweat draws heat off your body by evaporating

yeah florida stinks. literally, walk outside for 2 minutes outside of december/january and you'll have a sweaty back or pits, and an odor. if your friend or something goes outside for a cigarette and then comes back inside and walks past you, you'll notice the smell. stranger coming from outside walking past you leaving? awful. and it's not their sweat, deodorant or antiperspirant won't help

Aldi was going to convert most locations over but leave some Winn-Dixie locations intact. Probably won't happen now that a judge has ruled against Winn-Dixie in an ADA lawsuit. Aldi isn't going to want to invest the money into a brand with a shrinking number of stores to make it ADA compliant. They'll probably convert more over to Aldi locations than first anticipated and sell off the rest. The biggest issue is that most Winn-Dixie locations are twice the size of the typical Aldi so many of them will need to be subdivided and the excess space sold, probably to a drug store.
