Wtf, I just posted a thread about this last week and I got banned for 3 days?
Anyways I think a realistic disaster preparedness measure to take is having stores of water. The problem is the water going stagnant, which means it's important to be going through it constantly.
My household just uses 5-gallon water bottles that we refill at the grocery store for $2.50 each, and keep them on tap for the water cooler, that way there's always at least 30 gallons of fresh water in the house.
We're mostly concerned with natural disasters cutting off water supply for more than 3 days, but you never know what else could possibly happen.

My home is basically an apocalypse bunker. I live on a narrowboat, which is 10mm of steel basically all over (except windows, which I could plug with wood). 1KW of solar panels, big diesel tank, 200L water tank, LPG gas canisters, basically off-grid. In terms of food, at any one time we probably have a couple of months worth if we were to really stretch it, and with the canals being in the countryside, there's plenty of fruit trees, farmland to pillage (providing the entire farming system hasn't gone to shit), and other food that can be foraged.
That being said, I think the whole prepper thing is p retarded. in a SHTF scenario, you're going to want community rather than an individualist, standing on my own attitude. The bad guys are gonna be organised, you better be too.

Every military, marksmanship school, shooting range and responsible parent in the last 100 years teach you to keep you finger off the trigger unless you're puling it.
At first it was annoying to see movies where nobody had any trigger discipline but then somewhere along the line actors started doing it but in a almost comically stiff exaggerated way then a bunch of newguns zoomers started copying it.
Kinda seems like they lost the plot and don't even know why they're doing it other then mimicking the looks and actions of military

As a matter of fact, trigger discipline as we know it was not widely taught until the 1980s.
Some people still used their common sense and kept the finger off the trigger, but it was definitely not standard part of weapons training everywhere for a century.

I got shit on for saying this a few posts up, probably my own fault, so trying again: there is a particular military trope that has contributed to Le Trigger Discipline becoming a meme (of course it is also a GOOD THING that EVERYONE should do but still became a MEME as you explain).... and that is the image of post-Afghanistan "operators" and PMCs who get photographed at rest with a very specific pose with high-slung carbines and bent wrists that draw more attention to the finger. Everyone reading this can immediately picture it, it goes hand-in-hand with Oakleys and ballcaps and Mechanix gloves and shemaghs. It became iconic only in the past couple decades, and that is what Hollywood is copying in an exaggerated manner. Which is not to say that soldiers did not practice trigger discipline before (pic fucking related) but the media has glamorized a particular image that EMPHASIZES it as being something "experts" do.

It needs to last a long time, while also being nutritious. It also needs to be something you're willing to eat BEFORE the apocalypse, as you don't know when it will happen so you need to regularly rotate old stock out of your bunker and eat it.
I'm therefore thinking mostly whole grains, pickled vegetables and hard cheeses. Wrap the dry foods first in paper, then in plastic vacuum seal bags to prevent fungal spores reaching them. I'd also keep a few jars of flavoured protein powder and vitamin tablets to supplement with.
Spread the water over lots of different kegs and drums rather than keeping it in one big tank. That way if a seal fails to remain airtight you only have one bad batch of water rather than losing the whole supply.
I'd also connect a small diesel generator to the surface so I can run it underground. As long as both the intake and exhaust are isolated from the bunker's air supply it should be fine. Connect it to a hotplate and kettle and you can cook. Heating isn't so much of a problem underground as the soil will trap your body heat quite well.
Air filtration should be your top priority as there may be radioactive fallout. Fallout from conventional nuclear weapons remains lethal for around two weeks, so you need about 14-20 days worth of dust filters for your air vents. The filters will become clogged with radioactive dust particles, so you need a way of changing them without exposing your living space to that dust.
