For me, it's Chen Kenichi.

>> No.20044133

Chen Kenichi always seems confused and out of his depth and then he just wins

Iron Chef Sakai is sexiest.

I like him a lot too. I like how he gets so focused when cooking that he just tells the reporter to go away.
Him and Chen Kenichi I both like because they come across as humble, they're never cocky about winning and they seem to respect what the competitor does.

He had a youtube channel for cooking that he was running for a while before he passed. RIP old friend

Crazy to think the two youngest Iron chef's are the two who died earliest.

Chen Kenichi in 2023 and Masahiko Kobe in 2019.

Sakai is 80+ and still kicking
Michiba is 90+ and also still alive

I think the rest are late 60's or mid 70s.

they all lost to the REAL iron chef

>> No.20045558

>>20045549
no, they didn't

He stood on the cutting board and then the judges scored him worse because of it.

Honestly probably had a chance for a tie or slight edge out win if he hadn't done that.

Do the other iron chef's have youtube channels? I think Kenichi was the only one.

They're mostly retired at this point, the few younger ones are running businesses and or teaching.
Morimoto is obviously still active in the US food scene.
Sakai still runs La Rochelle locations in japan.
etc

Yes.Go ahead Ohta.

He tossed the cutting board first before standing up which was considered just as rude. He did win, but I believe it was in Hawaii and the judges may have been biased. Either way, he was a mong both episodes. Morimoto won at the end up the day

Just finished the truffle battle EP where dr Hattori attempts a coup. As if the episode wasn't over the top enough, the gigachad of all chefs, Joel fucking Robuchon himself struts in as a spectator and taster. I happened to have some truffle brie on hand which I ate while watching, made it even better. One of the best episodes imo

Well, I asked the Iron Chef what he thought of the contestant's use of pig testicles, and he said "don't worry I've got a secret ingredient to use that will far outdo pig testicles" and winked at me!

Sakai>Chen>>Kobe>>>>>>>any Iron Chef Japanese
honorable mention to Ishinabe who noped out of the show after he finally lost

>> No.20047240

for me it's mayuko takata the best guest judge

>> No.20047275

Chen was always my favorite because he seemed to have the most fun with it. For him, Iron Chef was a place to try things out and experiment and be whimsical, not just cook.

I asked the Iron Chef what he thinks about OP and he said この投稿に返信しないと、お母さんは今夜眠っている間に亡くなります。which is pretty based.

it was a bullshit non-apology, he blames his crew for "forcing" him up there

the second one was actually worse because it was intentional. I also remember the crowd applauding and the whole thing being spun as a "FUCK JAPAN USA USA USA WORLD WAR CHAMPS BACK TO BACK" moment because it was the mid-2000s

Pretty sad, really. I’m fuzzy on their birthdays but if they fell under Gen X that generation is dropping like flies. A good 20% of my high school class is dead and we’ve not quite hit fifty yet.
