Apparently the Japanese celebrate Christmas by buying and eating huge amounts of KFC chicken buckets.
What other yummy Christmas traditions do we have?

Anon, they've been under US military occupation for 80 years and literally had their constitution re-written by said occupying force. Japan has zero say in anything and should count themselves lucky they get to have the better KFCs.

To Japanese, religion is entirely bs, as it should be. It was imported by christcucks, but kfc, another thing that was imported, actually is for real good. This is the Japanese way of chuckling at white people, and how ridiculous we are at getting excited over just another day.

this interests me but there is barely any information written about it, what exactly is us influence on Japan currently, and historically have there ever been any Japanese resentment to the occupiers? Just seems like Japan is fairly happy with the way things went for them post 1950s but I wouldn't see the truth if it was blocked by us media and culture

Basically every food chain store in Japan does something for christmas since the 80s. KFC one is just more well known in Japan because they started it in the 1970s when it was not common for a food chain store to do something like this.
Since the New Year's Day thing is more important in East Asian countries and people normally have to spend more money for it, it's still recognized as the easiest thing to do for christmas for who don't want to spend much money a week before New year's day in Japan.

The thing is, basically every fucking thing about Japan is exaggerated in the western media in kinda stupid ways when they recognize it. That anon is right about christmas cake being more common.

it's not quite that direct.

kfc started making christmas dinners for expats, because you can't cook a turkey in a japanese oven.
japanese market loves a limited time offer, so native japanese started buying the christmas chickens as well.

the weird part about japanese christmas is it's actually a second (third?) valentine's day and you need to find a date.

>> No.20040383

>and historically have there ever been any Japanese resentment to the occupiers?
japanese nationalism is a thing. they have to be careful about it since it is tied with being pro-war and they're not allowed to have an army.
to this day they still refuse to acknowledge japanese war crimes happened, for example.

you'll sometimes see black vans with megaphones bolted on yelling at the gaijin to go home.
