20035035 No.20035035 [Reply] [Original]

I'm one of, like 10 people in my whole university that makes their lunch at home and I just realised how much I probably stand out. No one that I share modules with brings lunches from home. I feel like a weirdo.

On the plus side though a guy told me that my food smells good. I guess that's a plus. He did not however ask for a bite or anything of the sort so I assume that he was just being nice.

>> No.20035041

You're saving money and probably eating healthier.

>saving money
Honestly the only reasons why I cook. When I was little my mom always packed a homemade lunch for me. I realise that now as an adult that she did it because we were not very financially sound and our whole income was dependant on her.

If he wasn't a good friend of yours he probably thought it would be rude to ask for some of your food.

Yeah I guess I should've offered him a bite

If you're a man you're a weirdo. If you're a wamen you're intimidating your peers and looking high teir to men. Being a weirdo is a good way to filter chaff from your friendpool. Its an absolute win regardless

He might think he'd be being impolite for asking for a try. Don't fret about it. You have been complemented.

You are making the right decision. Inflation has made even cheap fast food extremely expensive. You do eat much healthier as well. Slop has tons of chemicals that kill you slowly.

Bring a little extra, and if he shows interest again, offer him some.
What kind of things do you bring?
I miss taking stews to school in my thermos in the winter.

OP, there is nothing wrong with cooking/making your own food, versus paying 5-60x as much for the exact same thing from a non-Palestinian of Palestinian of descent that according to the Bible, is allowed to cheat non-Jews whenever and wherever for any reason.

This is why. University students don't cook and will just order takeout instead. It's still so much better to cook while studying, because it's cheaper, better, and lets you eat whatever you want (as opposed to fast food/cafeteria slop).

>> No.20035706

Most people are lazy, fat, uneducated, and unhealthy. You dont want to be like most people.
You also dont want to be so autistic that you repel them and force yourself into loneliness. But i dont thinkn bringing a sack lunch puts you into that territory.

Most guys that I know prefer people that are more modern and stuff. I just know how to cook because I grew up in a single parent household and I had to learn simple cooking techniques early on

I should do that sometime. Have to wait until the next semester though.

>What kind of things do you bring?
Salads, stir fries, non soupy noodles, sandwiches and whatever I got left over. I think I brought left over lasagna on the day that that guy complimented it

>>20035621
Why?

>>20035702
I mean I do like takeout stuff but I do this out of necessity to some degree

You can find some low effort recipes that are actually really good. With a little prep work it isn’t that bad just depends what you’re making. Just brining some quality snacks is beyond most people.
Also consider making big pot of stews or soup for dinner and taking some in a thermos.

I'm not sure whether I want to argue about this here on /ck/ but most guys I know of like women who are more progressive in a very conservative sense. I mean, you can't really start a family if both people aren't contributing equally in the family unit. Like, you know how in the 1960s women were mostly homemakers? That doesn't work now. Women have to work and if she can/want to cook, she will cook. She is not obliged to cook because if it's expected of her to cook then the load of responsibility isn't shared equally because the male cog of the unit isn't contributing daily like that. Like I said, I know how to cook because I had to learn how to cook. Not because of anything else. Most normal modern guys are aware of this and likes women who can earn.

Oops, forgot to reply to you.

I never really liked eating soups and stews in public because I'm anxious that it's going to get on my shirt and ruin it. I mostly just stick to non fluid like food for packed lunches.

Depends. My lectures start at 9. I'm awake at 6 and I have just enough time to fix something up that morning and get ready. If I'm particularly busy then I make enough for breakfast and lunch when I'm fixing the night before's dinner.

Relax. You are one of the few sane people left. Unless you already own a car, house and a good amount of savings you should NOT waste a lot of money on deliveries. I don't get it either. So many people are blowing maybe 1/3 or 1/2 of their income on food

What? You make it sound like still in grade school. What country is this?
Also why the fuck would anyone in their right mind take a bite of some random person's food even if they think it smells good? I have no idea what you did to prepare that food, and what you've been touching while eating it. Just look at Indians.

You are fine, anon...Don't worry about standing out so much. I'd bet money there are plenty of people who see you bringing your own food and wish they had too.
You may even be inspiring others to bring their own too, and not even know it.
