If you walk around the "seafood restaurants" with their big fish tanks showing off their "fresh fish", and look in the tanks, you'll see the most horrendous stew of shit and fungus and half-dead fish that you can imagine. It's like they pull them straight out of the sewage canals.

I rented a kayak when I went to Koh Chang, which is supposed to be some sort of idyllic pristine nature preserve, and went out paddling on the ocean. I very quickly turned back, because I didn't want to splash around among the floating toilet paper blobs and other direct-from-the-toilets-of-the-resorts biowaste that was all around on the water. Someone I later worked with told me he'd gone there for a vacation and gotten a scratch on his leg, which became so badly infected that the docs thought they were going to have to amputate.

It's a seriously disgusting place for seafood. Chickens, ducks, pigs, cows, you're not going to be any worse off than anywhere else. Oceans? Giant dumping ground for their sewage. Don't even consider it.

Who knows? maybe Jersey tomatoes are like Sangiovese grapes planted in California, but the corn oil instead of olive just evokes Marie's kitchen blunders and relegates it immediately into the slop category.
Seems sort of like an ill Acquired taste like how some people love Pizza King, the most ridiculous excuse for pizza evar; but since they grew up with it, they associate it with good report cards, winning little league championships and first dates at 16 that went well.

Corn oil doesn't taste like corn, dum dum. It's neutral in flavor, which you could argue is preferable to having everything taste like olive oil.
