Listen here. The original American hotdog was just German sausage with sauerkraut on the roll because they were serving it all together. What's slaw? Cabbage with dressing. What's sauerkraut? Cabbage in vinegar. What's it often served with? Mustard with oil. So you have dressed cabbage, slaw.
