Depends on where you go.
Fast food in general will be worse.
Forced immigration has largely destroyed a lot of good restaurants, replacing it with mexislop shit.
But if the restaurant has survived forced immigrant replacement, it will be pretty damn good.
BBQ overall will be far better in the south, and pretty much non-existent in the north.

If you care about tire company stars, all states suck, they only care about the capital, so that isn't a good metric. But that would mean the "south" wins because the "south" has DC.

I have lived all over the country and yes, this is true. First off, the South is literally where 99% of the food in the country comes from. It's grown and raised right there so it doesn't have to travel so far to get to your plate. It might not be the healthiest food, but taste-wise it's the best, hands down. Southern hospitality is a real thing, and they take great pride in their cooking ability. One of the best feelings in the world for a Southerner is to see someone genuinely enjoying their food, so they put a lot of effort into it. There is also a huge range of cuisines down there. It's like the Southeast Asia of America. Poor, but with a ton of different delicious foods. Having lived in Northern states and now living on the West coast, the food here just lacks soul. You can tell while eating out in the rest of the country that the food was made for one thing, profits, while in the South more often than not the people cooking you food want you to actually enjoy it.

There's a really annoying, off-putting fixture of /ck/ which is a few posters - and it may actually just be just one poster - who have a neurotic fixation. I'm not a mass responding faggot, so just take my word that they're pretty prevalent ITT.
They browse the board and seem to be frequently overcome with total disgust at any post or idea that falls below their stringent, anal-retentive, dainty standards of health, order, and tidiness which cloister their dull, sanitized experience. It fills them with personal offense and prompts outbursts towards other people (their imagined superiority to which is a vital pinning of their identity) who could even conceive of sullying themselves with the ingestion of disorderly foodstuffs. To them, no pleasure or satisfaction of palate could be worth the risk to their delicate purity, and it fills them with fury to see that /ck/ anons enjoy such grossly delicious southern food, with its flavor being all messy and enjoyable. Unfortunately for normal anons, they then must announce their holy dissatisfaction so as to soothe their trauma.
Southern food is fucking delicious, it wouldn't be if it were healthy, and I love that it makes these womanly little people seethe.

Most of the upper-middle class people in California have left for red states. The ones remaining are looking to profit from the corruption in the public sector or generally have some sort of stake in the dwindling entertainment industry. Everyone else is too poor and/or stupid to get out.
>Is this a huge joke and everyone is in on it?
The vast majority of California's voting base is nonsentient. They want to be a moral people without any understanding of morality, so they vote on the basis of what they believe is moral, rather than giving any thought to what they're voting for.

Most of this has arisen from the retarded fetishization of minority groups. They believe that a person's actions are morally good by virtue of how low they are on the totem pole. When a homeless guy sets fire to a house, they don't view him as a victim, they see him as a saint who has been the victim of a system which has oppressed him. The home owner would be seen as the villain because he has more wealth/power/whatever than a guy who jerks off on subways.

California's completely fucked and I hope the forest fires take it.

No.
Black "Soul" food is generally just cheap shitty bits of meat drowned in as many dollar store spices as you can get until it's a vague red-orange flavour and tastes of random spices.
Bonus points if you just straight up add whole bags of chips instead.

The reverse is true but understandable; the south hates California intentionally exporting its culture/politics across the country, which califags think is a good thing to civilize the rest of the savages. Meanwhile the south just exists and Cali/yankees reeee for various reasons not worth blogging about. On topic, California pizza sucks, their burritos suck, and they have nothing to brag about that isn't immigrant food. Same with NYC, save the pizza which is ok but generally overrated.

the south was basically owned by france. they've had technique the entire time. i'd imagine being so close to the 13 colonies with their bread on toast and stone soups would have forced them to focus on flavor with what they had access to in the americas. everything is sweeter in the south.

>>19980541
I can't speak for new york, but california has everything. absolutely everything. part of that is because a lot of mexican food is just good finger food in general, and it's everywhere, but we also have great places to go for specialty crafts, and competition is high, which forces quality and value up.

We've got a huge japanese and chinese population, hawaii and mexico right there, and there are tons of 'infused' restaurants that make what I call common sense meals if your common sense is a little more common that most people around.

The only thing we're missing is deep dish pizza.

Texas is highly underrated as far as food goes, it's actually really diverse. Houston has a lot of really good Asian food, Cajun food is popular like you said, and of course there's the tex mex and BBQ, but no one talks about the German and Czech foods, no one mentions that paczkis are just as big in Texas as chili and BBQ.

it's the conservative hierarchical mindset. They tend to believe that those at the top are superior and therefore deserve to be there.

So when they see California making up roughly 10% of the US population and blowing conservative states out of the water in economics, cultural influence, R&D, technology, agriculture, etc; their natural instinct to bow down and spread their cheeks conflicts with the fact that we have left leaning governance.

So they need to focus on the negative aspects of California to keep their worldview from shattering. It's like when they got rejected by the hot girl so they retroactively deem her a slut and a bitch.

Any place in "town" is not worth going to anymore. The best bbq is what you get out of a shack on the side of the road, it's been like that for 20 years at the very least. Texas Monthly ruined bbq forever.

I've been fooled that way too, admittedly my fault and I realized I was a retard. I went to Valentina's while they were still on Manchaca, the wait was around 1.5 hours and the bbq sucked. Had to fix it up at home the next day to make it decent. But I realize that's not the kind of shack you're talking about. Don't really see too many of them on the times I get outside of the city.
