I live alone and as such I have a tiny fridge-freezo as is appropriate for a single man.

Freezer is full of meat, soups, stews, and sauces plus some breads of various ilk.

Fridge has lots of unpacked deli meats, cheese, piles of sauces, some veg and drink, a pot of whole dead chikenbird which is brining for tomorrow.

It's not perfect but I keep it clean. It's a good fridge.

This is, of course, not true on at least 3 levels.

Firstly, plastic wrap is water proof. Go test it.

Second, cling wrapped trays get put on a little hot plate which melts the plastic so it stays sealed.

Thirdly, while the seal isn't perfect and the film is easily punctured, the juice from the beef isn't going to instantly kill you on the spot if it touches some veg. Humanity did survive for millennia before the invention of plastic. Those bags are provided for neurotic people whois insist on over packaging everything.
