This already-opened jar of pasta sauce is over a month old, but it has no mold and it smells fine (after I was able to get the lid off). Think it's fine to eat?

>> No.19926860

As long as you weren't dipping shit into it with your filthy hands you're fine. The sauce should be plenty acidic and salty to prevent anything serious from growing in it. The "you must throw this sauce away if you don't eat it in a week" thing is just so Big Tomato Sauce can sell more jars.

It will kill you within hours. It is deadly poison.

Boil it on the stove for 10 minutes with a cap-full of bleach.

This anon is probably right, but I would throw it out if you don't use it, now that you opened the lid and exposed it to air.

enjoy your botulism

Tomatoes are too acidic for botulism. The main concern for botulism is when canning vegetables since the clostridium botulinum bacteria likes growing in dirt, and it needs an anaerobic environment to grow and produce the toxin. Improperly pressure canned soups, or pickled vegetables that weren't salted enough are the primary source of the toxin.

I left cooked, breaded chicken out for like 8 hours in the toaster oven. Do I really have to trash it?

Well, it's been 16 hours now, what happened?

>> No.19928614

Holy shit no. Jesus christ. It lasts like 5 days before it starts growing a nightmare cocktail of bacteria. You know they use tomato paste as a yeast nutritient to jump start moonshine fermentation? Microbes love that shit.

>> No.19929371

OP here. Nothing went wrong after eating it. Big Sauce can go fuck itself.

you are a massive faggot and a pussy, if theres no mold or bubbles and it didnt spray when you opened it, it will be fine.

I bet most of you faggots throw out cheese when it gets a little mold on it as well.

your ancestors would spit in your general direction.
