onion powder is good in quite a few things. buffalo sauce, home fries, seasoned batter, dipping sauces, dry rubs, marinades. A lot of people seem to think it's a trashy shortcut instead of using fresh onion but they're completely different with totally separate uses. When I reach for onion powder there's literally nothing I could substitute. it is a unique and irreplaceable flavor.
