Explain hard tacos to me. They don't hold much stuff inside them, they shatter when you bite them leaving ingredients falling out everywhere, they can't stand up on their own so any food that you do put in them falls out when you put them on a plate...

Why not just crush the Taco into pieces, pour the ingredients on top and eat with a fork?

>why not nachos?
Yes

They're fun to eat. They don't fall down if you have one of those zig zag taco holders. If you just mix everything together it doesn't taste the same.

It's exactly the same food. When I make tacos I brown the meat, tomato sauce/chopped tomato, spices, sour cream, hot sauce, cheese, onions everything in the skillet and cooked together. Then I can just scoop that into the Taco in one or two scoops.

Layering tacos is stupid and increases the chance it will break by fucking with it. Just mix it all together and scoop it in. Still tastes great.

1. They don't shatter if you make them, you're referring to pre-made hard shells. If you fry tortillas yourself they are basically impossible to make shatter because they are still malleable.

2. Nachos already exist.

3. Hard tacos ARE authentic tacos, mexicans claim birria tacos are 'traditionally' fried corn tortillas in the shell shape and claim they began making them about 300 years ago. So to believe in 'authentic' mexican food is to understand they also eat hard tacos. It's too bad nothing else they do is any good.

>>19849110
Again, the chances of shattering are absolute zero if you make your shells, this is /ck/ why are you acting like a store pre-made thing are the only things and not assuming by default you are cooking the shell yourself? You can mix it if you want, but the flavor is different and so is the texture.

It's like saying why make a cheeseburger instead of just mashing up bread and beef in a bowl and eating it with a spoon. Because it's different.

They only shatter if you don't warm them up in the oven first like a savage.

That or microwaving

Also, that just makes it worse.

Imagine trying to claim authority on what is and isn't "real" mexican food and then immediately outing yourself as a complete tastelet

I never claimed authority on anything, according to every source the birria taco is a fried tortilla in the shape of the classic "hard shell taco". I'm sorry you somehow misrepresented me in your schizophrenic mind as stating I decided this or took lessons on this information. Disagreeing with the factual information I posted does not mean I claimed authority, nor does it make the facts wrong. Thanks for replying though!

I also wanted to mention you seem to misunderstand authentic mexican food as well, you seem to believe that is "whate mommy bought me in san diego or texas". As someone who lived in Mexico with a family that lived their whole lives there (I was dating one of them) as well as lived in southern California most of my life, I can tell you the food you believe to be "authentic mexican" is not actually authentic.

Real mexican food, both from that family and from visiting other people, restaurants, etc there over the course of years, is made near entirely of food imported from the US. Real authentic Mexican food is primarily made of imported Mission brand tortillas (both flour and corn), not "homemade", and when it is homemade stuff it's usually of imported ingredients from the US anyway. The only thing they typically use that is local is meat and the meat is some of the most low quality random chinese style street-meat stuff imaginable. You're lucky if you get likely diseased cow chunks, primarily you're eating diseased and malnutritioned goat or dead street donkey. The cheese is also almost entirely imported from the USA and, yes, sorry but most of them do not use muh specialty cheeses only in mejiko, they use cheddar. The salsa, sorry LE PICO DE GAY-OH is also just chopped up imported american tomatoes.

I am now officially stating I am an authority, by the way.

As for the birria tacos, I still am not one since my post a few minutes ago, but please refer to google which will show you many sources relating the facts that birria tacos, hard shelled dipping tacos to be precise, were started in the 1600s in el mayheco. I am not samefagging, I'm doubleposting!

like this though I don't usually add a sauce between them.

But put a little BBQ sauce in with the taco meat for extra kick.

This is essentially Taco Bell at home. My wife is from El Paso, and I've spent a lot of time in NM. Taco Bell is absolutely fine when that is what you're in the mood for; we also do texmex and northern NM stuff too. Her El Paso stuff is a bit more like Northern Mexico style though. We like all of it, and all of it has its place.
No need to gatekeep or try to be some fucking wannabe elitist.

when they are stale

Try toasting your hard shells in the oven like the directions explain on the box. They get a toasty flavor, and it brings out the flavor of the corn, but more than that, they won't split down the bottom on the first bite you take. It could be that you are eating a taco wrong, of course. Are you turning your head to the side? Are you overstuffing them?

You might prefer to buy the stacks of tostadas. If neat eating is your only goal, then yea, maybe you should just eat taco salads with a knife and fork.
