You want to cut whatever the recipe says in 1/2 or 1/4.

If you plan to toss them in cinnamon/sugar mixture you'll want to stagger the cooking. They need to go directly into the mixture because donuts absorb oil on the outside near instantly once you take them out.

You can make the filled ones by putting filling in a plastic bag and cutting off a corner. Use something small like a fork handle to wiggle room inside them. If you overfill they will squirt some filling back out.
