I can buy local o toro for about 20 euros for 100 grams. I was wondering as far as cuts go. Can I buy a semi affordable cut that will still taste delicious?

I knew the japs were fucking retarded, and people fall for their jewish tricks anyway, sad.

Please explain further, what is special about tail cut? I am looking for cheap cuts that will taste well in sashimi, I do not care if they are cuts that aren't even used in restaurant I just want tasty raw tuna for lower price.

>> No.19761124

Bump, someone with experience in making their own sushi at home or in restaurant or knows about cuts please reply.

Its fucking raw fish on rice. Who cares. Stop being retarded. Authentic Japanese food sucks. It is poverty tier.

Take the discarded fish heads and organs to make a nice stew. It would be better eating than fucking uncooked slices anyway

why not contact your local fish supplier instead? maybe they'll hook you up at a good price.

the only sashimi you'll enjoy is tilapia, straight from your local septic system. hahahahahahahaha!

When you go to the sushi bar they will already have fish for the trained sushi chef to make your sashimi with. If you're hacking out some homemade goyslop it doesn't matter which cut you use they will all be equally terrible.

I like maguro, but I rarely order it since there is a 90% likelihood you will get scammed. Real otoro nigiri runs about $12 apiece at my local gourmet restaurant that is actually owned by a renowned Japanese chef/restaurateur. You can immediately dismiss any restaurant that has escolar, butterfish, or "white tuna" on the menu as disreputable. I wouldn't trust any tuna from a restaurant that serves those.

if i could get fresh tuna I would make my own bonito.

No, I can afford it. But I like the idea of finding a cut that is perfect price/quality wise, or less commonly used cuts that still taste great. I was reading on other popular fish you'll find in high class restaurants and apparently sea bream is amazing and I could get some really fresh ones for about 7 euro per 200 grams. I really just want to get the premium sushi experience at a reasonable cost. I have made some before with low grade tuna/salmon it's not that hard.
Anyways as I stated in OP, 100 grams of Otoro goes for about 19.50 eur per 100 grams, Chutoro is 16.50 and akami is 11. does anyone know how many slices/sushi pieces you would get out of 100 grams?
>>19761522
Great idea will do!
>>19762369
A lot of the fish served at highly rated places are actually flash frozen and cold water thawed, you could maybe order some frozen ones and try this way.

lots of sushi chefs i know will pick up salmon or tuna from the supplier themselves. you can even try calling 1-2 small sushi stores nearby to compare the prices you get in case you get upsold.

if you are looking for something really good to try, make some vinegared mackerel (shimesaba) at home

Fucking hell this is one of the cringiest clips I’ve seen. I love sushi as much as the next guy but this just reeks of revenge fantasy
>urgh I wish I had said that to those loud customers at my middle class sushi bar, that would’ve humiliated them.
And sometimes I worry I’m a snob
