Jesus christ, your assembly line preprogrammed hatred for Californians has blinded you to the slop that is whataburger. There is absolutely nothing defensible about that place. The meat is cut with so much filler it becomes a floppy disappointing mess. The vegetables are completely tasteless. The fries are dry and have a stale frozen taste. I lived in an area with in n out, whataburger, and 5 guys. in n out fries are inedible, their burgers are mediocre and you get practically no meat. veggies were kind of fresh, I suppose. Californians defense for this is that you are supposed to get everything absolutely drowned in cheese or mayochup dressing. whataburgers fries aren’t much better; mashed potatoey and kind of bland. their buns and burgers are also incredibly dry. +1 for spicy ketchup, and their patty melt is okay. given the astronomical rise in fast food price, you’re better off going to 5 guys honestly. far better burger and at least you recoup some of your money in fries, for around $5 more for two people.
anyway, getting back to your question: eegees. they make incredibly slushies, have the best ranch, and their grinders are pretty good

In Connecticut there's a chain called Capitol Lunch. The original restaurant is in New Britain, a family owned location for nearly a century, currently operated by the elder Gerald and younger Matthew Warchezski. The location is known to locals as “Crapitol Lunch” and are known to come in and ask for “the shit sauce”. 2 hotdogs and an order of fries is commonly called a “Big Shitter”. You won’t find this on any menu, but if you’re a true local you’ll know. The Famous Sauce is often served in small ramekins commonly called “dookie drops” by locals and used for dipping. The sauce is also sold for $10 for an 8 ounce container, something many New Britain locals take advantage of due to the popularity of the Famous Sauce. Locals know to order it as a “Big Dump” and the owners aren’t shy about giving a little extra to people who order this way, knowing they’re what’s called a “tool city townie” and thus one of their own.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with a classic cheeseburger. The meat is ground fresh on site daily, the patties are formed by hand and the buns are baked locally yet a cheeseburger still only costs like $6 compared to Five Fags costing $18.95 +tip lmao
With fries or onion rings, it's another $4.
The Royal (bacon cheeseburger "crowned" with onion rings) would be better except I hate horseradish and that's a prominent ingredient in their signature sauce. The cheeseburger doesn't have any "petal sauce" so I prefer to get with a side of onion rings and make my own pretender to the throne.
Despite my love for the joint, I really don't go very often. Last time was during the Trump administration.
I simply don't eat meat very much, least of all beef.

>That's not to say they're great or anything. Just that they're a must have.

Runzas are pretty good and definitely worth it for the unique factor alone

For me, my favorite regional fast food that I've ever had is Braum's. I lived in Wichita for a year, and it's truly one of the greatest fast food chains. It's honestly nothing spectacular, but they have higher quality options that McDonald's, BK, Wendy's for a better price.

Last year I was able to get their double quarter pounder meal with large fries and large coke for $9 total after tax. You just don't see that kind of value anymore.

Plus they have a great ice cream/shake selection as well as a mini grocery store on the inside.

Their best deal is probably the "bag of burgers" though. You can get like 5 cheeseburgers for 6 bucks before taxes. It's just such a great value

That's true, yeah, but I never minded the fact that it's unsalted. Better that than oversalted. I was speaking more to the relative quality of the beef itself compared to other places. It's decent and doesn't have a "signature flavour" like every other burger out there does, if you get what I mean. Like... you can bite into a McDonald's, BK or Wendy's burger blindfolded and still accurately guess which one came from which place. A lot of people like the idea of a signature flavour but it just makes me think the patties have been adulterated.

The location I grew up with is still good but I tried a new location once with a drive-thru and it was terrible. One place I feel is starting to get its grove back a bit is Taco Time. They were awesome when I was growing up then maybe about a decade ago they became terrible and only recently I feel they've improved to a point where I'd eat there regularly. It was like for a while they forgot to put cheese in the crisp beef burritos.

Based PNW anons.

Dicks is king but I understand the hate. It's the platonic ideal "fast food burger" but unless you like that kind of thing it can be off-putting to newcomers. The fries are retardedly good, but they're nothing like normal fast food fries so, again, I understand the hate. (Spokane Dicks is good too)

Ezell's is legitimately the best fried chicken I've ever had, and I have family from the south

Ivar's is only good if you buy it from the Salmon House under the aurora bridge but it's a vibe

Burgermaster is pretty good but not exceptional

Burgerville is shit but my wife is Celiac and they offer gluten free buns and have special gluten-free preparation areas so they get a thumbs up from me. (But seriously, the burgers are ass)

Yeah that's good stuff. Especially love the yeast rolls, baked beans and mac & cheese with it. Their mashed potatoes are a bit of a letdown, though. I appreciate they're real and not instant like everywhere else but I've never had them cooked right, they're always kinda grainy and unpleasant.

I liked 5G when it was a better value, but 5G is objectively bad at hot dogs. Was stoked to try them when they came out since I liked the burgers, but their dogs are just bleh. Only other real complaint besides value going down is that their cajun fries are always inconsistently seasoned and I never know if I'm going to get too little, too much, or that sweet spot of cajun so I always get the plain.

>> No.19755899

five guys is objectively complete trash compared to any "upscale" fast food cheeseburger place. Their quality has gone down and their prices have gone up. You pay for a burger crushed in tin foil, slopped with barely cared for toppings, all of which contains more grease than actual food.

Only people that stick up for five guys are people that haven't tried, or don't have access to, anything better.
