It literally tricks your taste buds into thinking something tastes good which is nice if you want to eat low quality and questionable cuts of meat.

not much worth discussing unless you have bad taste or dumb prejudices
or in the worst case, your prioritize trendy health journos and "science" over good food

>> No.19722870

It adds flavor or umami, but it's basically a cheater's "spice". If you know how to cook, you won't ever need it.

About as any other, or even superb huhyite forms of MSG delivery condiments like Maggi or Vegeta, which actually contain other taste-enhancing ingredients unlike that white powder.
At the end you will still be left with that odd aftertaste film on the roof of your mouth.

I use a little bit when I'm making some Asian inspired stir fry stuff, but it doesn't do much for me. I get just as much enjoyment out of garlic, chili, or ginger added to the meal, so I don't really see the fuss about the stuff.

>> No.19723343

I add it to most mainly ground meats or meaty things like mushrooms or beans. it's a noticeable improvement for ground meat, but honestly almost essential for bean and mushroom heavy things

Vegeta is better

>> No.19725084

I like to add MSG to things that aren't "meaty" to make them taste better. For example, it works really well on vegetables (for example, potatoes, beans, corn, etc). A lot of meats already contain glutamates so I just add some salt to them.
For processed foods, it's a coin toss, because the vast majority of them already contain plenty of salt and glutamate in some form or another.

When I add it to the savory food I cook, it makes it taste somewhat sweeter but in a very weird way and I dislike that
I can see it work for asian recipes though since they call for umami a lot

It's actually isolated from black strap molasses, a nasty byproduct of sugar manufacture. Also commonly isolated from chicken byproduct. Ever wonder where the term: "Wow, tastes just like chicken!" comes from? Chicken is insanely high in "natural", or non-isolated MSG. People are fucking retarded though. When I'm fucking around, or just being poor, having some Adobe in the cabinet sure helps make something taste better than typical "poorfag" shit. Here's a hint: Do a straight potato boil soup, boil them down until desired thickness, using just water. Pinch of MSG on top of your seasoning choices. It'll make it taste like you used chicken stock as a base.

Source? Source? Source?
Do you have a source on that?

Source?

A source. I need a source.

Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion.

No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered.

You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence.
You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence.

Do you have a degree in that field?

A college degree? In that field?

Then your arguments are invalid.

No, it doesn't matter how close those data points are correlated. Correlation does not equal causation.

Correlation does not equal causation.

CORRELATION. DOES. NOT. EQUAL. CAUSATION.

You still haven't provided me a valid source yet.

Nope, still haven't.
