Every restaurant and convenience store near me has put the bins of plastic straws back near their soft drink machines. Even McDonalds seems to be phasing plastic straws back in. And this is two years AFTER the state passed a law to ban straws. There's no enforcement, no one cares, the fad is over and we're onto the next envirogrift.

Anon, there is no climate change. Eco-grifters ignore historically high temperatures so they can tell you that current high temperatures are something special. The only reason they call it climate change is because global cooling and global warming were both proven to be bullshit. So instead of making hard claims they just started calling it "climate change" so you can't disprove them whether it gets hotter or colder.

Protip there's a fuckton of heat and pressure a few miles below your feet.

I'm generally err on the side of less government intervention, mostly due to the incompetence and wastefulness of the state
that said, I wouldn't be upset if my city banned plastic bags specifically. Reusable bags are convenient and readily available. Their cost can be offset by the fact they are an advertising vehicle.
I'd vote against such a law because I don't want to give more power to the government to take away conveniences, but I do think you're a bit selfish if you acquire new plastic bags every week

Getting rid of plastic straws was never about climate change. It's about retards throwing their garbage all over the place, causing plastic pollution in the environment. If people didn't litter, there would be no need to get rid of plastic straws.

Also, while mega yachts and personal planes do matter and should be restricted, they are only responsible for a tiny bit of climate change. All this focus on them is just a diversion, shifting blame and justifying to oneself, pretending you don't have to do anything.
But for climate change to be solved, you can't only target the rich. The middle class and the wealthier poor also need to reduce their standard of living. The vast majority of meat is eaten by middle class and poor people, not the rich. Most clothes are made for normal people, not the rich. Most cars are driven by middle class and poor, not rich. Everyone except the extremely poor need to reduce their standard of living significantly for climate change to be solved.

Finally a reasonable fucking person, I agree with you but I still think the target is at the owning class. Yes consumerism is devouring the planet but I don't think that's because it's what people are asking for, its because it's what's available to them. Personally I would love for a world where there wasn't an oversupply of dogshit shoes that will last a season before becoming unwearable and I think most people would as well. The target will always be the wealthy's pocket books in some way or another and that's why it's so harshly pushed back against.
