Whelp boys, the time has come. After 5 years of near daily use Slippy isn't so slippy anymore.

You wouldn't believe my delight when I found the exact same model still for sale all these years later. Rare for non-stick, it has a thick heavy steel bottom that works well on induction.

What are your latest kitchen cops, /ck/?

I have one small painting I added since that photo but the area above the fireplace is still bare.

The thing that shits me is there are little anchored hangers in the wall but they aren't level and they aren't spaced evenly, and they weren't put in with any consideration to be centered. so I kind of just ignore it because it would be so out of balance if I tried to hang things. I wouldn't try things like command strips either because the paint is very matte and uneven as the walls are rendered concrete

>want to buy a knife with a wooden handle
>completely fuck it up within minutes of purchase

For some reason I just assumed it would behave like a wooden chopping board. Needless to say, it didn't. I put it in water for about 2-3 minutes and when I came back it has emitted a whole bunch of brown liquid in a sort of puddle around it in the sink, and it had change color. When I went to wipe it over (with a really basic brush, not steel wool or anything) it was so sensitive the smooth finish is now rough and scratched. I understand that I should have researched it a bit more but I had no idea would could be that sensitive.

Nice I’m getting one of these soon. My newest kitchen gadget is pic rel - Instant Pot (IP). Always thought they were called ‘instapots’, but whatever. I use the shit out of this thing, makes the best cornbread I’ve ever had. Can proof dough in it too and I’ve started making yogurt now. Quickly caramelizes onions and roasts garlic. Potatoes, hard boiled eggs, dry beans and of course stocks, meats, etc are all super easy. I’m gonna try cheesecake this week.

It’s saved me so much money and time that I actually bought a second one, so I can do side dishes at the same time as the main/meat dish. If I had an Anova Precision Oven (APO), I’d be able to cook so insanely efficiently.

I should mention, I have a rice cooker too. I could probably get by fine with just a rice cooker and a single instant pot, using the rice cooker for sides. I really like having almost no dishes to clean and nothing to babysit when cooking. I can just get home and throw shit into these devices and shower / do chores then eat when I get around to it. It’s awesome for busy weekdays, wish I had known about this 10 years ago.

Gozney Roccbox is at the top of my list. Has attachments for wood too. I’ve seen a few businesses (not in person, but online) using two of them in tandem, which tells me they’re decent quality and perform well. Next year I’d like to do some pop ups or a farmers market and sling some pizzas for fun mostly, but also easy weekend money.

With the APO, can you tell the oven to turn off and keep warm once the temp probe hits a certain temp? Could I throw a chicken in there to roast, and have the oven automatically turn off when done, for example? I’m really trying to automate my cooking as much as possible and reduce cleanup time. I enjoy cooking when I have the time/energy, but having gadgets that make it effortless is really paying itself off quickly so I’m looking at getting the APO soon.

Checked btw, nice job.

>>19655823
I already own one, it's the one earlier in the thread.
While mine is less portable than the roccbox it is much bigger and can fit two pizzas.
If your weak or short it will be a struggle to move it alone as it's pretty large, but it only weighs 80lbs.
I put it in my Prius's trunk and it fits there pretty nicely.

If you can live without using your knife for a bit,
Go to a place that sells decent woodworking supplies.
Find a food safe linseed or tung oil based wipe on oil finish.
Also buy the finest sandpaper (400 grit or higher) they have, and some ultra fine stainless steel wool.
Let the knife handle dry completely.
Put a bit of the oil on a rag or paper towel, and wipe into the wood handle.
The oil finish should come with directions.
Wait a week.
Wipe some more oil into the handle.
Use the steel wool to polish the wood if it is mostly smooth, or only mildly coarse.
Use the fine sandpaper if the wood feels too coarse.
Let the oil finish dry another week.
Repeat.
Leave the oil finished handle to dry for a month, unless you have a UV lightbulb to expose the wood to.
This should help fix the stain into the wood, and should protect it somewhat, although you can’t soak the wood for long periods.
For some reason, Wusthof seems to have used oak for the handles on that series of knives, and probably stained the oak.
Walnut would have been a better choice.

My friend up in shitsville in the Hunter offered $1M for a house listed at $750k and someone outsold them pre-auction. And that's just a shitty house in a shitty town with neighbours right on your toes literally on 5 sides.

It's absolutely fucked and landlords know it so they treat you like shit but you still hang on because the cost of me moving is more than the moving expense. Places I looked at 18 months ago for $450/wk are over $600 now.

I know anon it's feral af. Thing is, Spiffy cost me $5 and when the knob broke I went looking for a decent replacement. Proper furniture/drawer knobs cost like $10+ so I just couldn't bear to spend that. The cheep PVC brace and screw were what I had on hand.

The screw was "stainless steel" but from the cheep china shop so of course it's turned into a rusted barnacle, but it's been fucking years so I don't even see it anymore.

As soon as I come across a drawer pull somewhere that I can just grab for nothing I'll fix it all up proper, but in the meantime I refuse to spend any money because whatever, me and Spiffy can coast through life together as imperfect rusty pieces of shit.

This seems like a reasonable thread for this question: I'm looking to buy a fridge this month. Do you anons have any advice on what to look for, what things are obvious scams and whatnot? The two I've been eyeing the most are the LG GSXV91BSAF and the Gorenje NRS9182VB. Do the price tags there really make sense? Other than the see-through door, do the rest of the functions merit the difference for the LG one? Like the door cooling function?

Hi anon, I'm not a refrigerator expert so I can't answer too much of your specific questions but I can say this: I needed a fridge and hopefully for cheap, and I bought a Hisense (which is a Gorenje brand) and I'm super fucking happy with it. After 2 years it's still perfect, and runs silently. I haven't had to adjust the thermostat or anything, so I would say the brand is pretty quality although I haven't seen that exact model
