It's better to slice the throat and let them bleed out in a kill cone. The less flapping and stress during the kill the more tender and less bruised the meat is.

It's also a good idea to "dry age" or rest your freshly slaughtered chickens to allow the rigor mortis to subside. Usually 3-5 days is good depending on how old the bird is. For stew meat this shouldn't matter too much.

Your head is locked in a position that guarentees the blade will hit it and kill you. Even if you manage to somehow get the blade to strike your head or otherwise not cut cleanly through, you're still a goner; you just earned yourself an extra 15 seconds of suffering for nothing.

There's a difference between cutting a head off when you're slaughtering an animal and trying to shoot off a head when you're bowhunting. The heart and lungs are a much bigger area than the head so there's lower chance of an error when aiming there. Your goal is supposed to be to bag the bird, not pull off trick shots.

What a glorious time that shall be to witness.

Not that anon but I have to clarify that not all buddhist monks are vegetarian and I would know because I legitimately used to be one for a few years. Mahayana buddhists are strict vegetarians where as Therevadan buddhists are not.

In a nutshell it's like for the Therevadan "I'll eat meat if you offer it to me but don't go out the back and kill the animal just for my sake. If vegetables are the only thing available then i'm not going to complain. There is no need to take a life just to feed me for this moment." For the Mahayana it's a bit more on the ethics of compassion and respect for the animal and life "This ox plowed your fields and carried many things for you and after all that you repay it by taking its life and consuming its flesh."

Neither schools of thought are wrong about it but a core concept of Buddhism is that there can be a middle path. You can still eat meat and be respectful of an animal's life it gives up for you. It is basically akin like how in many other cultures they didn't waste any part of the animal from blood to bones. They would kill the animal for food but never waste anything that it gave its life up for.

I mean it's not really a big deal, like everyone in the old country does it as a right of passage thing though you sort of have to go through it multiple times at different points in your life like as a child, adolescent and early 20's at least. Some stay on longer or even permanently but most go back to "civilian life" if you will. Even the women do it but technically they're not monks but nuns, still fully commit and go through the head shaving process though.
>how you ended up as a 4chan poster
lol i've been around the site during the simpler times when it was mostly wacky hijinx and tomfoolery. "Don't forget you're here forever" isn't an understatement.

On a side note I did once help slaughter a duck at a farm and that duck was even KO'd for me with a very powerful stun rod(at least powerful enough to conk out the duck). It was a somewhat uneasy experience considering the only other living animal I had killed to consume it before was fish I caught at sea. I guess I found the experience a little unnerving when it's from a warm animal. Probably a bit hypocritical for me to say this but i'm not sure if I have it in me to ever do it again while at the same time still buying meat from shops and cooking and eating it at home. Still I am however grateful for those who can do this process so others don't have to.

They are both wrong because buddhism is literally the worst religion, it is comparative to an eastern christianity in the sense that it was a religion of meek rising up to replace a religion that barred the underclass from participating, except it doesn't have christianitys saving grace in its work ethic produced by negative psychology. While this may seem counter intuitive what with christianity having a devil and buddhism being about changing your actions to reduce your suffering, christians see evil as internal and to be conquered, the devil doesn't do anything but play tricks and deceive, there is implied responsibility. Buddhists on the other hand see evil as something external to escape, the whole world is evil to the buddhist and their soul is caught in it. They are both shitty religions to placate the masses but christianity has a work ethic from its negative psychology, buddhism just makes ascetics, which is ironic.

Siddartha was literally a prince dude who grew up in luxury. Nothing meek about that. Also back then prior in the region most religion was mostly ancestor worship, shamanism and hinduism. I don't know where you got the idea that the underclass were prohibited from participating, it would have literally been impossible to stop.
>except it doesn't have Christianities saving grace in its work ethic produced by negative psychology.
Lmao what? Christianity demands you give up a portion of your earnings every week to the Papal clergy. Buddhism has the most strictest of ethical rules for its monks and abbots where you are literally forbidden from physically touching money or using any donated money received for any other purpose. If you donate money to a Buddhist monastery and specify that the money is to be used for repairs to the monastery then that money can ONLY be used for repairs and upkeep. The monks would rather starve than violate your trust. You want to lecture me one more time about negative psychology between the two here again? In fact if you encounter a Buddhist monk in public asking for money for their monastery or trying to sell you something in return to raise funds that is an imposter and you should expose their charade.
>While this may seem counter intuitive what with Christianity having a devil and Buddhism being about changing your actions to reduce your suffering, Christians see evil as internal and to be conquered, the devil doesn't do anything but play tricks and deceive, there is implied responsibility.
I don't know where you got the idea that devil(s) don't exist in Buddhism because they certainly do in the form of Rakshasa's. While originally a Hindu concept, lot of aspects of Hinduism did shape various aspects of Buddhism at the time. There is also the existence of Mara who opposed Gautama(Siddartha) and tried to trick and kill him.

>Buddhists on the other hand see evil as something external to escape, the whole world is evil to the buddhist and their soul is caught in it.
No? Where do you get the understanding that Buddhists think the world is evil? Like who's teaching you this stuff? The world isn't evil but it's full of suffering and i don't think that can really be disputed but it's also full of amazing things. One aspect of Buddhism's view of the world is that constant desire and wanting is something that you can never absolutely satiate and it will consume you physically, mentally or spiritually. To give a simple modern example think of how peoples desires get exploited in gacha video games for limited time offers or events and to participate in those events you have devote your time and/or money to acquire these things because of the element of FOMO. If you constantly chase these sort of things it takes a toll on you but to those who don't they would simply live better lives not partaking in it. Another simple example is how we use cars in our everyday lives to get to work, then we spend time at work to get money and then at the end of the week we buy more fuel to put into our car so we can drive our car back to work. It's all a cycle and it's almost impossible to break for anyone. I somehow think you may be mixing up multiple different Buddhist schools of thought and tradition and interpreting it into the other schools and traditions which is where your scattered line of thinking and interpretations are coming from, like your perception of Buddhism seems to be coming from parts of Tibetan Buddhism which to give an alternate Christian example would be like me interpreting Church of England or Roman Catholicism doctrine and scripture into Eastern Orthodox tradition and talking about it as such.

>They are both shitty religions to placate the masses but Christianity has a work ethic from its negative psychology, buddhism just makes ascetics, which is ironic.
Religion in both Christianity and Buddhism have been used for both good and ill and I won't deny that but I don't understand where you think Buddhism lacks in work ethic or ethics in general. The five precepts are like literally the first basic things you learn about Buddhism so it's entirely baffling to me where you are coming from.

It's true that asceticism is a tenet of Buddhism and Buddhist monks but i'll iterate here to focus on the word *monks*. Buddhist monks and ordinary Buddhists are not bound by the same standards to follow. My path is not your path even if we are of the same faith, an ordinary Buddhist can be a rich millionaire but a Buddhist monk cannot. The reason why Buddhism makes ascetics is in the paradoxical phrase "The man(person) who wants nothing, is a man who has everything" If you truly absolutely desire nothing then you will indeed be truly at peace. Think of say a modern example with someone who may want to live "off the grid" in the woods on their own piece of land with a small farm truly wanting nothing. That person would have clearly found their path in life and want nothing else.

You are religious so my points were lost on you. Pagan religions were nobler, literally in the sense that they were a nobles religion, the lower classes were never outright barred from religion but at one point in time religion really was not for them. Evolutions like buddhism and christianity changed that, made religion for the poor. You can debate all you like about who made religion for the poor and for what reason and who really profits from it but regardless of all that they are in fact poor people religions that came and replaced rich people religions.

As for negative psychology I mean specifically towards the idea of evil. The christian is told that they are evil, the buddhist is told that the world around him is evil. The goal of buddhism, and this is the goal for everyone not just the monks not sure why anyone is saying otherwise, is to escape the cycle of rebirth or die trying so you stay high up on the samsara cycle. This world is literally evil to buddhism.

Meeting some young buddhist monks was actually one of my chiefest disillusionments with buddhism since you bring it up, I was on a bus in kuala lumpur and some very young monks probably teens and early 20s were interested in showing me this watch they had. Just a regular watch with leather straps and I think brass not even gold, but to them it was precious and they fought over who got to hold it. It was really immature and awkward and it made me think about what this shit does to kids. Turns out its a common enough case, buddhist monks all come from buddhist orphans, and so now it makes you think about who is running the show for buddhism, just grown up versions of these weird deprived kids I met on a bus.

How does a middle path help anything, what does that mean that we should always compromise? Something even less meaningful, like everything in moderation? I don't want a middle path, I want a third alternative. This is why I have come to hate buddhism so much, it is literally the perfect religion if you consider religions to be a meaningless exercise of placating the fear of death, an exercise once owned by the rich now directed to the poor. It is literally the worst religion.

I'm religious but i'm also rather secular in certain aspects of it. I don't know where you got the idea that Buddhism was "made for the poor" it was simply a way of learning and understanding. There was no "design" about it or anything.
>As for negative psychology I mean specifically towards the idea of evil. The christian is told that they are evil, the buddhist is told that the world around him is evil.
Again, the world is not evil in Buddhism and I don't know where you keep getting that information from. The basic tenet is that life begets suffering because that's kind of what happens but there is also joy in life and the world but in the end whether you intend to or not will suffer somewhere. There's nothing inherently "evil" about this fact.
>The goal of buddhism, and this is the goal for everyone not just the monks not sure why anyone is saying otherwise, is to escape the cycle of rebirth or die trying so you stay high up on the samsara cycle. This world is literally evil to buddhism.
Lol actually no it's not, the standards and goals for a Buddhist monk and a Buddhist layperson is NOT the same. They are on different paths and have different expected standards.

>Kuala Lumpur
Now I get where your weird view is coming from. You've encountered Mahayana buddhists and are esotericly applying your singular encounter across the entire blanket of Buddhism thinking you've understood it. Also that sort of behaviour is common among very young monks because well, they're young and they are going to think and act a certain way. Do you also blame the wind for not allowing you to the fly like a bird? Yes there's a lot of orphans who get taken in to monasteries but that's not limited to Buddhism as I am pretty sure Catholicism has adopted orphans who became priests too. Buddhism and its views in Malaysia, Japan, Tibet, India, China, Thailand are ALL different and not entirely the same and that's something you need to understand you're somehow blanket applying a very narrow and inaccurate understanding across the entire spectrum.

You're misunderstanding the concept of the middle path, it's really not that difficult and much easier than you think. An example is that you shouldn't live a life of extravagance and indulgence but at the same time don't live a harsh spartan life lacking in basic joys is an example. Or in a more /ck/ related example, don't be a fat cunt and eat everything but don't anorexically starve yourself to a stick either.

Honestly your views are like if I encountered Roman Catholic priests and then went to some Eastern Orthodox priests and complained about what you experienced and then formulated a misunderstood opinion about Orthodox Christians based on Roman Catholics and then stubbornly held to my beliefs despite what the Orthodox Christians were saying and disregarded them.
