>1 oz quinquina blanc like Cocchi Americano or Cap Corse
>2 dashes orange bitters

>Liquor
Gin if clean Vodka if dirty

Lemon if clean none if dirty

I don't recall ever drinking more than 2 in a day, but I really love martinis

The whole reason the Martini has been so depressingly bastardized in the past 60-70 years is because it started out as an unbalanced drink that people have been tweaking to either 1. Make better or 2. Because they like the particular lack of balance and want it even more unbalanced in the same way. Just look at the Martini's cousins and see how loved and stanle the recipes have been: the Manhattan hasn't changed since the move to 2:1. The Martinez, Hanky Panky, etc. are all still 1:1 and haven't changed since before WWII. Martinis, as they are now, are a love or hate drink. With a better formulation, they will be more loved.
