Is aluminum foil safe to use for food preparation/cooking?
It's hard to find a definitive answer one way or the other.

No, it will turn off the government mindcontrol waves. Do not use aluminum foil.

You need TIN foil. This is the cheap modern version.

Honestly I never found anything that said it's safe. Which is weird because aluminum is toxic for the human body and that's why we don't have things like aluminum pants or aluminum knives. But for some reason aluminum foil is ok.

If I bake something you would normally wrap in foil, I like to wrap it in parchment paper first then foil.

Apparently you do get some aluminum contamination from the foil. But it's so little that your body will get rid of it before enough accumulated in your body to cause any real damage.
Apparently the real danger is inhaling aluminum vapors or letting it seep into your bloodstream. e.g. smoking weed in an aluminum can bowl or using antiperspirant that uses aluminum.

Aluminum would make a really shitty knife.

Of course not. Aluminum isn't heavy enough to block the radioactive material in chicken from decaying into the potatoes where they'll get trapped until you digest them. You need lead foil for that.

Only semi related. But I was just thinking that I would save a lot of money on foil if I got some pants that interlocked. Does such a thing exist? Bake safe pans with fitted lid that doesn't let the steam out?

The anti aluminum antiperspirant thing was proven to be false
Smoking weed out of aluminum idk about I did enough of that as a kid
I cook baked potatoes in coals in aluminum foil all the time and it's been a thing forever so it's pretty harmless

You should avoid cooking acidic ingredients in aluminum. Lower PH foods leach more aluminum into the food.

Absolutely not. I worked under an executive chef who used it her whole life and after retiring she suddenly died in her late 90's despite being spry and sharp as a tack. That's clearly poison.

Well worked is past tense. I miss the chaos of a real kitchen. I don't miss the stress. Sometimes around when I should wake up in the morning I hear a fucking ticket machine jolting me out of bed long before my alarm clock goes off.
