any taco bell intern want to explain this?

"new" beefy crunch burrito: beef, rice, sour cream, nacho cheese, frito chips for $2.49

already on the menu beefy melt burrito: beef, rice, sour cream, nacho cheese, "fiesta" strips for $2

They've been pulling this shit since the menucaust. They get rid of all their most popular items and then bring them back as LTOs for 2-3 times the price. The fritos burrito was one of their best items because it was only a dollar, and 3 fritos burritos was better than virtually any of their "premium" items like the crunchwrap or xxl grilled stuft burrito. They always relied on LTOs to get people in the door, but then offered a combination of really cheap drunk food and overpriced combos for the SUV crowd. Now they're trying to sell the cheap drunk food for premium prices it's gotten old fast. They've completely lost the plot.

It's honestly helped me stop going out so much too. I love taco bell, still do flavor-wise, but their marketing and more importantly the cost and shrinking of their items has just made me stop giving a shit. I go every now and then still, but it used to be fat-fuck levels of taco bell specifically 2-4 times a week + other fast food - now instead going to fast food AT ALL has dropped to (still admittedly too much) ~2 times a week instead. >They've been pulling this shit since the menucaust. They get rid of all their most popular items and then bring them back as LTOs for 2-3 times the price.
Every junk food manufacturer including and especially fast food restaurants want to constantly be touting "McRibs" that they can "generate excitement" with. The smart ones just invented new seasonal shit, which is basically what McDonalds did with Shamrock Shake or what every fucking "pumpkin spice" whatever maker does. The dumb ones like Taco Bell nuke their menus and treat their customers like assholes.

Hardee's did this with the cinnamon raisin biscuit. It was literally their most famous and popular menu item so they thought it would be a good idea to discontinue it so they could trot it out occasionally and declare "ITS BACK!" while making it more expensive and not nearly as good because now they've fucked up their supply chain and their employees aren't accustomed to making it.

They can all get fucked.

>Just make your own taco bell at home?
Easiest fast food to replicate at home, hands down. 90% of their specific ingredients are sold in stores, including spices and the specific refried beans. The only thing you will struggle with are chalupa shells (good luck with that). I recommend running 80/20 ground beef through a food processor to make it finer and then blending with the refried beans. Also, shred your cheddar fresh instead of using pre-shredded that's coated in starch.

Again, the point is that ground beef fried and seasoned and broken up as is gives that texture. All the ingredients, layered deliberately, each providing distinct layers of flavor and texture. Ground beef is supposed to have some chew. Beef is best when it provides texture. Why dont you throw in the cheese lettuce and tomatoes in with the beef as well? Make a little texmex smoothierito? using a blender for anything outside the salsa is fucking retarded.

No it doesn't. This isn't about your general philosophy towards ground beef. As you say, it's about trying to imitate a specific meal.
