I brew coffee once per week.
Brew ~1400ml of water over ice through ~225g of dark roast.
Pour into an old glass milk bottle with some sugar (not much), shake until dissolved and stash it in the fridge. Want coffee? Pour some of into a cup and enjoy. Want it hot? Nuke that shit.

Instant coffee exists to satisfy a routine. You would get better, faster results with caffeine pills, but you want to fit coffee somewhere into your schedule.
I don't have a problem with it, and I'll sometimes drink it myself. But it's pointless springing for "premium" instant coffees. If you can stand to drink Taster's Choice black, you can throw back the Great Value swill just the same.
Note: Dollar store instant coffee is an exception. It somehow tastes more like cardboard than coffee, and should be avoided.

Clasico rivals brand name drip brewed coffee, but you're right about most other instant coffees. One that I was surprised to find was terrible was Folger's instant coffee. You'd think being the dominant brand of coffee in America they'd take the instant coffee market more seriously, but instant coffee is more of a latin american thing anyway so maybe they don't want to compete with Clasico or they view it as an afterthought.

I just have a Keurig with one of these reusable mesh filters. I buy cheap Walmart brand coffee and add milk. I get a decent cup in 30 seconds that costs me under a dime.

There's instant that tastes good, it's just not cheap. The thing that makes instant taste like shit isn't the process used to preserve it, but the fact that instant is batch brewed with various processes that allows manufacturers to extract super high amounts out of coffee beans. This tastes like dogshit but it lets them make more than twice as much coffee drink out of the same amount of coffee beans.

The instant coffee ones are awfully bad in taste and mostly very bitter. That's why the industry came along with coffee whitener and varieties of sweeteners. - as a hotfix so to say. It's bitter after all, and don't reminds me of coffee. If it's just for the fast kick of Coffein it's OK.. But at a daily base I would not drink that.

The way I use my french press: Add two cups of milk, 3 spoons of sugar, and 3 spoons of instant coffee. Microwave that shit until the milk reaches close to the top of the glass (about 3 minutes). Don't even bother with water.
