All memes aside, wendy's burgers are extremely mediocre and not at all worth their price. The sickeningly sweet sauce they dump on everything that makes every burger taste the same is fucking dogshit too, and despite trying to market themselves as some kind of 'better' fastfood they use the same bottom shelf pickles every other shithole does which forces me to ask for 'no pickles' even though I LIKE pickles.

Baconator is fucking dogshit too, it's overrated and anyone that worships it has bad taste. Don't even argue with me, you're automatically wrong. It's like saying down is up or wet is dry, you're insane and not worth debating with if you think wendy's is good.

Dave Thomas was a good man who was passionate about 2 things: Good hamburgers and Adopting kids.
After he died, the company was sold off to first Arbys,(the Triarc group,) who IMMEDIATELY fucked up the product and made it cheaper and more chemically "Enriched", people noticed and sales dropped precipitously. It was then re-sold to Roark Capital Group.
Sad how badly they fucked it up in the name of profits.
I haven't eaten there since 2009. I used to go to the original store at least 3x a year,(COSI was right across the street,) and the glass bead curtains and old timey ads on the tables just accentuated the feel of the place.
That was the last vestigial remains of a high trust society and good "Fast food"--they shut the original store after there were too many robberies and gang shootings.

I'd been to Wendy's International home office a few times on field trips for middle school/high school. Two things were really notable, the 3rd floor test kitchens/foodlabs were really straighforward and almost entirely about sauce spicing and food extracts--nothing hinky; and the BASEMENT which looked like something out of the Brotherhood of Steel's data center from Fallout II--banks and banks of mag-tape computers in an air-conditioned, sound dampened room.

lol this is so true. anytime I go to my local wendy's it's just me eating with the co-workers and some creep that has been there every single day flirting with one of the underage workers.

their coupons I got in the mail are also bullshit. "buy crispy chicken get crispy chicken free", "buy large fries buy large drink get daves single free", "get kids meal $1.99", no baconator deal, no 50 chicken nugget bucket deal, just a bunch of garbage for homeless people.

After the new ownership in our town they stopped hiring whites. When I worked there the burgers were made within 2 minutes before or after you ordered it. Unused meat that sat for 5 minutes was used for chilli. But we usually didn't have waste so we had to cook fresh chilli meat.
We would make sure to put fries down at the right time to avoid wastage. All fries were served within 8 minutes of coming out of the frier. We would also have people asking for no salt fries and salt on the side thinking they would get fresher fries. Of course their expectations were low! They were eating at subpar fast food joints.
The meat actually was fresh. Brought in every few days. The pop lines and nozzles were routinely cleaned. The icecream machine was washed and sanitized daily.
A woman from China bought the place and she'd call every single hour about something she saw that she didn't like (she was watching the cameras remotely). The quality was going downhill, but I haven't eaten there since the no whites policy 10 years ago. I might check it out again this fall for science.

Even then, I think they mostly are on price parity, so the coupon is just a way to trick you to get through the door. That 16.99 family deal may actually be 18 dollars but you'll never order it to find that out.
